So, I took a pg test a couple of days ago and i'm pregnant. I don't know how far along I am at all and wish i could figure a good guess.
I always have a very irregular period- but pg symptoms started 3 or 4 months ago (Terribly painful breasts, plus they got larger- thought I was just lucky! ha ha.. jokes on me! And i also gained a few pounds)
Strangely, I had a period almost 2 months ago. So now My boobs are huge, and the past two weeks my stomach is getting round- plus i've had to pee all of the time for the past 2-3 weeks. I thought I was in the clear after that period... I was wrong, or maybe I'm newly pregnant? From before symptoms began, i've put on about 10 lbs.
I am waiting for response on when my dr. appointment is and well, I'm just so scared. As i stated, i'm a smoker unfortunately, and wasn't planning on a pregnancy. I've smoked a pack a day this whole time, maybe even more- plus i've had alchohol as well. I had no idea that i was pg.... or i would have stopped that stuff.
Any advise? I really need some, this is a very scary situation for me. ↓
you are on the right track by calling the doctor for an appt. let them know what you just told us regarding being unsure about the dates. as far as the smoking and drinking, i wouldnt worry too much. just stop now and let the doctor know as well. when i had my son almost 14 years ago, i smoked until i found out...and drank too. he was born perfect. please try not to stress yourself out....you may want to call the drs office back and let them now that there is a possibility that you could be as far as 4 months and i am sure that they will see you ASAP. good luck ! ↑
Thanks, Leslie for your reponse. My appointment is August 1st... until then, I guess I'll just consider myself a non-smoker (I cry from withdrawl of course, so it's real fun kicking that habit)- and cocktails with the girls are no more... ↑
hang in there...you are doing the right thing. and once the baby is born you can get settled and then make an evening to hook up with your girls andf have a cocktail. :) ↑
I am 9 weeks pregnant and I too drank quite a bit before I found out which was about week 6. I too had irregular periods so nothing to gage from. I had my 1st u/s sound at 6 weeks and saw the heart beat. I know the worries about bad behavior before finding out. Actually it freaks me out. Keep us posted on how far along you are....You could be months right...? Maybe already in your 2nd trimester!! Good luck! ↑
I will let you know, have to wait until August 1st for my doctors appointment and it's just too far away... i am around 3-4 months i'd think. My belly has gotten so round the past two weeks, and I think I even have developed a bit of a pregnant waddle. People have actually asked me if I'm pregnant... I don't want to say anything untill I see my doctor. Guess I'm not camaflaging well enough... I will update as soon as I can. I would love to be able to tell people, especially my parents and girlfriends but my bf & I agreed to wait until we have the appointment. sigh. Just want to make sure we know what's going on 1st... So, for now I feel like I'm on hide-out. Very strange. ↑
Hi Miccsmms3, I think you should start from now to eat healthier, quit smoking, and limit the alcohol. Don't forget to get prenatal vitamins and you should be ok, congrats. ↑
Hey girls, just checking in. Had my 1st appointment yesterday, and don't have much new to report... They scheduled me for an ultrasound monday, as well as a PAP, and should have all the blood test results back I'd think.... In going over everything with the nurse, it seems likely that I'm about 4 months but the ultrasound should give me a better idea. They did let us hear the heart beat. Meanwhile, since my last post- my tummy is quite a tummy, sticking right out there!
Just to assure, I did quit smoking the day I found out I was PG, also went and got/ began taking pre-natal vitamens. Have been putting lots into eating more fruits and veggies--- less burgers & pizza ; (.... The nurse told me I should be drinking milk, so today I bought milk.. and some high fiber cereal- and dried prunes which hopefully will help me feel less "bunged up".
The nurse told me since I'm over 35, that I'd be placed on a high risk for downs, which really freaked me out. She said all over 35's are marked as high risk for it. ↑
Oh, and I've also gotten a few books on pregnancy. I'm pretty shocked that they all say to limit alcohol, and not to abstain from it. I mean, I guess that's good news? I haven't had anything to drink since I had my positive home test result, and am afraid to have a drink at all. What are your thoughts on this? I'm just so surprised that the rules aren't stated as "do not drink". That's what I remember while growing up and hearing about what you should and shouldn't do... ↑
I am in a similar situation. I only found out I was pregnant a few days ago but I have been charting so I know I am 5 weeks along. My problem is the smoking as well. The ironic thing is that I was planning to give up on Saturday and went out and bought the gum and patches only to find out that now I am pregnant I cannot use them. Since finding out I have smoked between 4 and 8 a day but I want to stop but find it damn hard. Any suggestions? This is will be my first. I had 2 chemical m/c last year. This one seems to be sticking but I don't want to jepoardise it. I am 41 and have been ttc for several years. ↑
Tialuce- As you are not very far along I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. Just quit, or do everything you can to do so. I've heard mixed reports on using the patch or gum- so I would check with your OB office and see what they recommend. I've opted for cold turkey as I don't want any of it in my bloodstream at this stage. As far as tips for getting through cravings, i think it's a struggle and it's ok to admit to yourself that it totally sucks and is extremely hard! Munching on things - always attempting to keep them healthy rather than junk food, but hey, i am not perfect. Sometimes its cookies, sometimes its carrots. My thing is just trying to pass through that craving time... each one you pass through helps you "get off" the nicco & whatever else they put in there- and that feels like an accomplishment and then you have some ammo to get through your next craving. I really tried to just stay away from everyone- because everyone seems to stress me out and make me need a smoke! Seriously! Good luck and keep in touch if you need a quit -buddy. ↑
Big update!!! Today I had my first sonogram- remember, I found out I was pg about 3weeks ago.... Via the sonogram, they estimate me as 5 MONTHS along!!!! Wow, that's pretty far, huh? From the sonogram, and what they can see, they say everything looks normal. I am having my 1st pap today- later this afternoon- along with more blood tests. Dr. recommended that I get the quad bloodwork done. From there decide on an amnio. ↑
I'd say on average, 2 nights a week, like a glass of wine or two- or a few of mixed drinks. Sometimes it was out with friends- and other times, just the glass of wine at home in the evening... Not every night, and not always getting sloshed or anything like that. Never been a beer drinker- just a wine lover! I've been pretty over the bar scene for a while now. Honestly, I am more worried about the smoking than the drinking. The past couple of months though, I had very "naturally" lost my appetite for drinking. Didn't like the taste, made me feel queezy. ↑
