Hi...I am due today with my first child. I woke up yesterday morning with contractions. They were painful, felt like really bad menstrual cramps and spread from back to abdomen. I was timing them for awhile but they were irregular so I stopped. I had a dr.'s appt. at 10am and he checked me and said my cervix was thin and soft but no dilation. Well, the contractions continued all day, into the night and I still have them now. They still are irregular but painful. I have not lost my mucous plug yet or had any bloody show. I guess my question is...Is this the start of labor??? I dont know what to expect. Any advice is appreciated. ↓

Call your doctor and GO TO THE HOSPITAL!! You may not be dialated now, but you might dialate very fast and all at once. That happened to me. 6 cm's in 15 minutes at the end of my labor. Better to get there too early possibly than too late. ↑

I believe it is the start of labor. Get a friend, go somewhere air conditioned (mall) AND WALK. ↑
