I hear that most women lose weight when bf, but I gained. I was doing GREAT during my pregnancy, only gaining 23 pounds in total, but then after I started bfing, I couldn't stop eating! I was (am) hungry all the time! And it's not for carrot sticks either. Anyone else have this? ↓

i know I gained weight. I lost alot right after I gave birth, but ever since I went back to work, I've been gaining. Its because I have to eat to keep my milk supply up so I can make enough when I pump. ↑

YES!! i thought i was the only one. i think half the reason was because we are used to being treated as pregnant women and we didn't care what we ate for so long!Right after delivery i was actually looking great for just giving birth i thought, then i started eating and my tummy started bulging out! I just counted my meals and made sure i only ate 3 meals. It's also hard to keep track of with a newborn, when you eat any chance you get because you know you won't have time to eat later! ↑

Yes! So frustrating. I too had a flat tummy (because all my skin was to my knees! lol) right after birth, but within a few weeks I too "bulged out". I think I took it for granted that I would lose the weight because I was nursing and I'd heard so much about how what you eat doesn't affect your milk supply like you think it does. Didn't think too much about the fact that while your body takes what it needs for the baby to make good milk, that doesn't mean momma will look nice and skinny! :) I lost 40lbs after I had my ds, but it's slowly creeping...creeping...when you're pregnant and eat whatever you crave, it's like "no big deal. My belly's supposed to get big for the baby!" And baby bellies are cute. Post-baby bellies however...not so much! ↑

Im right there with you gals. The week after my dd was born, I was back in my old jeans (a little tight but not bad). My appetite was HUGE! I gained about 20 lbs and it's been hard to get it back off again. So yeah, it's great weight loss for some women, but not me!
<hugs> ↑

For some reason I think a lot of women crave sweets when they are bfing. I lost weight while bfing and actually got below my pre-pregnancy weight then I stopped bfing and start bc pills and gained 11 pounds in 1 month. If it's not one thing causing weight gain it's another. ↑

Hi ladies, older post but here's my 2 cents worth!! I didn't loose any of my baby weight (except about 10 lbs=baby&fluid??) and even managed to gain an additional 15 lbs while bf!!! My lactation consultant told me that 8% of women will store their body fat as a reserve in case it ever needs it to produce milk. Go figure...it doesn't make you feel any slimmer, but at least it explains a lot!! As soon as I stopped bf I dropped the 15 lbs within 2 weeks! ↑
