How Long Do Sperm Live?
Name: Carolina73
Question: If I had unprotected sex on day 10 of my cycle, and my average cycle is 28.6 days (30, then 29, the 27 for the last three cycles) is it likely I could become pregnant from it? How long do sperm live? We had unprotected sex in earlier months, but it was usually around day 15+ in my cycle and nothing ever came of it, so, maybe earlier is better? Help! I'm desperate and I think this may have been my last chance to TTC! ?

Answer: No cause for desperation. Day 15 may be too late to catch ovulation. Sperm live in fertile mucus for as much as 5 days, so day 10 is a better bet, day 12 optimal for a 27 day cycle. Good luck! =

Answer: First I have to ask why is this your last chance? Second - try having sex a couple days in a row. From day 10 to day 15 that way you cover all the days. =

Answer: My husband and I are seperated and things are going downhill. I want at least one more child, and I do NOT want my children by different fathers. So I'm hoping it takes this month... Because I doubt I'll have another shot. =

Answer: Your on the brink of divorce and you want to get knocked up....I presume without his consent...? Sounds awfully deceitful and selfish. =

Answer: My god, I hope you are not pregnant! You are "desperate" and things are "going downhill", so you are having sex to deliberatly get pregnant to your to-be ex husband. What is wrong with having different fathers if you are in a commited relationship. That is much more honorable than sneaking behind your exs back and trying to get pregnant by a man you know WONT be around!!! =

Answer: Carolina73 - I am sorry that you and your dh are having problems. Are you and him on good terms and do he still want to have a baby? I hope everthing works out for you and him and I am sending you a hug hang in there. Skyeblue - How can you be so mean and you don't even know her or everything about what is going on with Carolina73 and her dh also I'm sure she had her dh consent so I don't understand why you are saying she is being deceitful and selfish. lunamoo - Same goes for you as well and what make you think she is a desperate woman and I know a lot of ladies want their kids to all have ONE FATHER. I just think that both of you ladies are being too harsh on her and you don't even know her like the rest of us do. This is just my feeling on this. Krissy68 =

Answer: Thank you Krissy. We still speak, and I think the problems lie more with him than they do me. He wants "to travel the world." and "to help people. Do something for humanity." and he claims he "didn't realize having a wife would get so much in the way." I don't really care about the "honor" part of having children by different fathers. I won't do it. I don't have anything against people who do, but it is something I always promised myself I would never do. And I intend to keep that promise. And my theory on the rest... He knew I wasn't on birth control. And he still didn't use a condom. There's a chance you can get pregnant every time you have sex, and especially so if no precautions are taken. That there is consent enough. =
