I had contractions last night that started around 3:00 in the morning until 6 a.m. It would start as a back ache and then feel like a mentsrual cramp in front. This woke me up from my sleep and I could not get back to bed until 7 a.m. I woke up at 8:30 and it had stopped. Was this false labor? How often do contrasctions start back up after something like this? I was sure I would be deliverying my baby this morning! ↓
It sounds like false labour or pre-labour. Doctors don't class it actual labour until the contractions are regular & increasing in intensity & frequency for at least 2-3hrs (otherwise known as active labour). That is why you hear about some women saying they had a 30hr labour when in fact it is more likely that they were experiencing pre-labour for several hrs, & not actual labour. With my first I had niggly contractions all day Wednesday, but because they weren't regular or increasing in intensity, I was told it was not real labour & they were right. That night about 2am Thursday morning they picked up & I could feel the difference in the contractions, & that is when the doctors classed my real labour starting, & dd was born 12.5hrs later. Goodluck & I hope you go into real labour soon, as I know just how annoying those niggly pre-labour contractions can be. ↑
