Liz-----LOL, I just had that same conversation with my husband. It DOES seem that everyone elses pregnancies go by sooo fast while I sit here and count each week. The TIA's were kinda weird. I would have a numbing/tingling sensation down one side of my body. I would get very confused. I would drive around in circles because I couldn't remember where I was going or how to get there. It got to the point that I would tell my daughter before we left the house just in case I forgot. I even lost her in the grocery store one time. Well, she is twelve so she wasn't lost. I guess maybe I was. I just couldn't remember where she went so I stood there for about 60 seconds completely disoriented. It was real alarming at the time. I thought I had early Alzheimer's. I forgot so much. I fried the tea kettle once because I forgot about it and almost went throught he garage door because I forgot to open. It sounds sooo funny now. I'm laughing as I type but at the time I thought I was loosing my mind.

My doctor started me on the Lovenox at ovulation time because my miscarraiges were at 4.0, 4.4, 4.6 and 6.2 weeks and I never get to see a heartbeat. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe this will help.

Hi all- Well I have hit 17 weeks 6 days. 2 days longer than my last pregnancy. everything is going fine but I definately understand the the fear of not hearing that heartbeat each doctor's visit. I feel more optimistic than ever and wish everyone the best of luck. On a side note my cousin was tested for MTHFR and found that she is hetero, I'm homo. The good news is she is not yet trying to have a baby but actually knows ahead of time. She should be saved a lot of pain. Good luck to all:-)

Question: After a chemical pg, how long does it normally take for your cycle to start?

Name: alexa | Date: Sep 29th, 2006 11:22 PM
Hi Rachael: Thank you for sharing the test results from your heartbreaking recent loss. It gives me hope that although we might be at a higher risk for babies with NTD's, that risk can be overcome with extra folate. I know you must be having a difficult time, and I appreciate you opening up and sharing the information. Take care.

GUIDA,
So sorry I have not responded to your post sooner. I am 14 weeks now and things seem to be going well. I am so anxious to see how you made out in Boston. Did you get to see the Domar Center?

Name: Guida | Date: Oct 2nd, 2006 8:40 PM
Hi Kristine, so glad to hear that you are doing well. I did see the Domar Center but it's a 2 hour ride from my house, so I won't be going there. But for now, Boston IVF is running some blood tests and I will be seeing a hematologist there too. I'm still doing the acupuncture and she has prescribed herbs which I should be getting this week. My ob gyn prescribed another pre natal that is essential for women with MTHFR something my other doctor should have known. Hopefully, things will work out this time. I'll keep u updated. So glad to hear you are doing well... continued luck!

GUIDA, So glad you got to go there. I took an herbal tea from weeks 6-8, very yucky taste. I used to drink it cold in 4 ounce servings.,,,,,,,,,What's the name of the prenatal are you taking?

It's prenate elite. Had blood work done, just waiting to hear back. We're not starting treatments this month as they are doing blood work, etc. So we'll start next month and hopefully I can get some exercising done this month.

GUIDA, Lots of luck to you. Please keep me posted. ((HUGS))

Kristine, I just received the tea mixture. It is disgusting!!!! How did you do it??? I have to take 3 level grain spoons (not sure what that means waiting for specific instructions) three times a day. How did you take yours??/ It tastes horrible, the things we women are willing to do for our dreams... hope u are doing well.

Though I've never smoked, I swear the tea tasted like cigarette ashes. I ahd to drink 8 ounces day so I drank 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening. I drank it cold and basically downed it like a shot. I trained my mind to think it was something else like an energy shot. I tried it warm the first day and could not sip it.

Kristine, Guida- is your tea the 'red raspberry leaf' or something else? my acupuncture lady told me about this one. although i'm not a big tea drinker in general, it wasn't so bad - although i couldn't drink it all. it's suppose to regulate the female system. hmmm...
btw, ANOTHER neg pg test this month and ANOTHER cyst. instead of letting this one burst (as my left side did a couple months ago) i decided to take a low dose of bc. ever since my cyst burst on the left, my left side has not produced good eggs. i didn't want that to happen to the right side too. gotta hold on to what i've got for pete's sake!!!! so that means one more iui then it's ivf time...dum dum dum dum! ahhhhh!!!!! (sorry for the dramatics, i guess i'm just too much in the halloween mood) --------- i've now found out that a bunch of girls from a circle of moms i know are now all trying to get pg. imagine the nails i'll be spitting out when they all get pg before me!!! really, i'm not bitter, just letting off some steam. later - lw ;o)

I just found out that I have the compound heter mutations (a and C). I've had two early mcs this year (both about 5 weeks). Found out I was pregnant again just as I was starting blood work to see if they could find a problem. I started taking baby asprin right away before I found out the results but didn't take extra folate other than the 1mg that is in my prenatal. Anyway, this week (about 7 weeks 3 days) I found out I have twins!! My ob put me on extra folic acid but 2 days later I find out that I have these mutations and should have been on much higher doses all along.

Does any one have any experience with compound hetero MTHFR and twins? I'm freaking out a bit that i'm going to mcs these guys. I have another u/s on fri next week so trying to stay positive.

Liz, I wish it was rasberry tea. Mine is a mixture she put together based on my history. It's called Modified Jimai San and it tastes BAD!!!!! But I am willing to give it shot. I should be starting my next IVF cycle this month. Hang in there, hopefully you will not need to venture into the IVF world, but if you do know that it really isn't so bad!! I was freaking out at first, now that I look back at it, it hasn't been that bad!! Good luck to everyone

Hi all. I'm new to the site, but too tired to tell my story tonight. Mainly I'm wondering if anyone has heard from Want1More? I've read each of your responses over the last 2 days, and am concerned. More tomorrow...

Hi All---Haven't been on in awhile. I went for ultrasound on Turesday and was able to see a strong heartbeat. Today is 7weeks....so far so good. Only 33 weeks left to go. Looks like I may be diabetic. I will go in for the 3 hour test later this week. As I told Guida, why not another variable to the equation? I'm not overly concerned. I am trying to change my eating habits asap just in case.----------------jpth, You can't look back. Do as you are instructed from here out and try to stay positive. It is hard, but it is really all we can do. Hopefully you will see heartbeats very soon and will be able to relax a little.

I've heard from Want1More. Last my wife spoke to her (they keep in touch via e-mail), she was doing well and still very pregnant. My wife and her are almost on the same schedule w/ their pregnancies and doctors visits and all. They see the same doc and everything.

Hello. I just found this forum. Hope you don't mind if I share...

I'm 31, have a wonderul 3 y/o son. Had 1 m/c before him. Lost twins in March. They would actually be due right around now. Anyway, my perinatologist didn't find anything wrong after losing the twins. Went back to my RE and he repeated the same tests and then some. He found that I'm compound hetero for MTHFR and tested abnormal for PAI-1 (anti-clotting protein??). Still doing research.

I am on baby aspirin and Folguard daily for the rest of my life. I had to tell my parents and sister to get tested. And they said my son would need to be tested eventually. Kinda scary. And if pregnancy happens again, it will include heparin shots daily. So I don't know if my homocysteine levels were high or not. I plan to get copies of my labs just because I like to know the numbers. I do know my platelets were a little high.

I'm getting ready to do injectable fertility drugs (Repronex) in the next week or so. I must admit I'm relieved to know what might have caused me to lose my 2 angels, but I'm scared to death because this is all new territory for me.

I've enjoyed reading all the wonderful info I found here on this crazy thing called MTHFR. Thanks for sharing.

Hi there, I don't know if I have MTHFR or any other clotting disorder, but I suspect I might.

I had a miscarriage on July 19th at 5 1/2 weeks....then, I thought I got my period, but I actually was pregnant again, but HCG levels were going down, so they said I miscarried again! I'm 25 years old and am so frustrated.

I think I might have a blood clotting disorder because when I was in college, I always donated plasma. BUT---almost every other time, my blood would clot up in the needle! They were baffled as to why I clotted so much. They told me to take an aspirin before I came to donate.

Do you think this clotting that happened during plasma donation could be a clue that I might have MTHFR or something else? Is that why I'm miscarrying. Can I ask my doctor to test me for it??

Please, your opinion is wanted---what do you think?

I just found out today that I am compound heterozygous MTHFR. I am already 28 weeks pg, and just got tested pretty randomly. I'm passed the point of worrying about m/cs, but now am concerned that b/c I haven't been on any extra folic acid that I'm at an increased risk for birth defects. I've been taking a pre-natal vitamin, but just worried, obviously. I've already had one detailed ultrasound, and nothing of concern, so hoping I'm in the clear.
Any experiences/thoughts you could share?
Thanks!

Hi gals-and Nate,
Have not been on in a couple weeks. I started Heparin after OB spotted baby and H/b--yay!!! The shots are not bad. After I got over the fear of doing the first one its now no big deal. It does burn a little and bruise afterward.
So my due date is May 23. Thats 11 days later than it should be. I told you I OV REALLY late in Aug.!! Crazy. That puts me at 8wks tomorrow. May is TOO far away.
My 3 yr. old is so old for her age. Last night I was doing my shot and Hannah just looked over and started crying and said "I wish God would have let us keep our other babies". I could barely console her. This happens from time to time with her. You wouln't think it would affect a 3yr old like this. Does this happen to anyone else?

Name: mhodge | Date: Oct 10th, 2006 7:14 PM
rachel d...yes, my 3yo understands that we were going to have 2 babies (he was with us when we first found out it was twins), then 1 baby (after we lost the first twin at 6 1/2 weeks). He just didn't understand NO baby. He still asks about the babies. He even kept calling the twin I carried the longest (11 1/2 weeks) a "she". All the time he would call the baby "she". It was a girl. The testing post D&C showed it was a girl. I'm sure just a coincidence.

At his 3yr check up, I asked his dr about their new baby. He said all was fine and my son said "Mommy's babies are in Heaven with Jesus". I just about died. Everyone said he's too young to understand any of it. I really think otherwise.

rachel-----First of all, my due date is May 27th. I also was excited to see a heartbeat at my ultrasound last week. Regarding your 3 yr old--- they know. It might not be exactly as it is for us but my daughter was 5 when I lost my first one and to this day remembers that she was not able to see him before he was buried ---he lived for 23 minutes. I then lost one in 2002 and 2003. My niece was only 4 for the first one and she always tells me I'm sorry that you couldn't have your babies. --------------On a lighter note, she has put together the sex and baby connection and told me that her uncle and I must have a lot of sex or at least 6 times because I've been pregnant 6 times...lol.

Has anyone ever been on Lovenox and had home pregnancy tests come back negative even after your period being late? I'm now 3 days late and the tests are still negative.

Hi all, I haven't been online for a really long time. Thank you, nurseskarlett, for asking about me. I'm 30w 5 days today. So far so good. I'm still on 5mg of folic acid, a baby aspirin and a pre-natal. No heparin for me, but I did take progesterone for the first 16 weeks. I stop the baby aspirin at 36 weeks. I've had a lot of calf cramping (even with the aspirin), so I still feel like I'm on pins and needles with any potential clotting issues. But I can't complain. I had a 4-D ultrasound last week and again today. And, god willing, the baby looks great. So keep the faith. It is nice to see some more BFPs on here. Best of luck to everyone. ~ Cheryl

I have had 2 mc's and it was heart breakin I went to a fertility center and the Dr did alot of tests and found out I have MTHFR MUTATION. He recommended me to take baby asprin 81 mg and folic acid. (FOLGRAD 2.25 mg) and prenatel. for a short time I took pregestron. About 2 months later I was pregnant . He than told me I was ok to go to a regular ob/gyn Dr. I than went to a new Dr and they asked why I was taken baby asprin 81mg and I just remember him telling me I have think blood and it will help thin out my blood and help stop blood clots and I'm O-. Well the new Dr. had told me I don't need to take those anymore and I could stop taking them. and she would get those test from him. 1 month later I went back to see her and she asked if i stopped and I said no and her responce was Great because that could have caused another mc . I am 29 weeks now and doing good. I was told that there is a big possiabilty I will have to be enduce do to the blood clot. I will find out more on 10/26/06

Sorry I made a few mispelled words in earlier answer

my new doctor also has me doing a fetal count. which is I am to feel her move 10 times in one hour twice a day. If I don't feel her move 10 times in that one hour I am to try orange juice or cold water, I drink chocolate milk(ok per Doctor too) and that gets her going. She moves about the same time in the morning and about the same time in the evening. If I don't feel her the ask that I come in if they are there or go to the ER ROOM I hope this helps.
