My husband and I are getting ready to try for #2- my ds will be 3 in December. I have had MANY people tell me that they had to try for extended periods of time to get pregnant with their second, which has me paranoid! It literally took us 1 try with my first- do any of you have any input or advice??? Thanks so much :)

With our first we got pregnant the first cycle. With our second it was the second cycle. I really don't think that wether or not you have had a baby in the past affects your fertility. I would however recommend using an ovulation predictor kit at the least. I have a Clear Blue Digital Monitor and I loved having it. With our first we used the test sticks. Good luck.

My experience was this - tried for 5 months before getting pregnant and then had a miscarriage. We then got pregnant on the first try with our 2 year old, but they say a miscarriage makes you more fertile. I'm pregnant with #2 and it took us 3 tries, but I also didn't let my body adjust to coming off the pill so the first 2 months of trying, my body was messed up. I've heard of secondary infertility, but that is for a small eprcentage of people. Remember, the people telling you this were all older when conceiving #2 and its defintely harder to fit in sex with a little one at home. This could extend the time trying.

With my first it only took a few week, with my second it took about 4 months( I have a 2.5 yr old and am 20 weeks preg with my second). Still not very long... I wouldnt worry about it. If you want you can find websites where you type in the dates of your last few periods and it tells you about when in the month you will be ovulating, that way you can be sure to try those days :o) Im sure since it was so fast the first time you wont have any trouble this time either.

well - with my dd we weren't trying but it took only 3 months of not being "careful' for me to get pregnant. With the second my dd was 12months old and it only took one try. :) I have friends who spent several years trying for #2 so I really think it depends on each person. You can chart your body temp too to see when you ovulate - it's actually pretty fun to do. :) there is a website, I think it's fertilityfriend dot com or something like that. You can chart it on there..

We tried for 3 years then had to due IVF with ICSI with our first (male infertility) and six months after she was born I found out I was pregnant again and we weren't trying so for us it was much easier second time. Some couples get secondary infertility but its not that common and I'ld have thought if it took a month with the first it should be quick for the second too.

With ds1 it was first time trying that we concieved and with our ds2 it was unplanned (ds1 was 7 months old when we concieved) so no actual trying there. I am assuming we are just both very fertile. hehe.

It took us almost 2 years for #1 and this will be our 3rd month of trying for #2. I hope its easier to get pregnant the second time around!!

I did have secondary infertility. My first was an accident so it was really easy to concieve him. My periods disappeared completely for about 3 years when I wanted my second. I tried clomid and nothing worked, but then I took a herbal remedy that had soy in it and Had regular periods for 3 months and got pregnant that third month with my second. So when I was ready for my 3rd I figure it would take a while and I was pregnant the first try. I did have to chart my cycles for a year before ttc because they are very spread out and irregular. But, the first month we actually tried I concieved. But, secondary infertility is rare and most women don't have a problem, I was just one of the weird ones. Good Luck and I am done with having babies so if I have any baby dust left I am sending it to you!

Took us 8yrs to conceive #1 and only one "normal" cycle to conceive #2 (when #1 was 10 months old). I am due with #2 in less than 3 months.

Thank you so much for your input- I def feel a little better now. TO give you all some background...I am one of those crazy girls who has been ready to have a baby since I was literally 17 years old- it's just what I knew I always wanted to do, and when I met my husband, everything just seemed to fall into place...hubby and I dated for 9 years before getting married, and had ds #1 when I was 27...I will be 30 in November which is why I am so worried- hopefully it will be as easy for #2 as it was for #1...wish me luck!!! We will start trying in September...
