The official answer from WebMD is "This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor." I guess they only want you to use it if it is absolutely necessary and weigh the risk of the baby being exposed to it versus the benefit of you staying well enough to take good care of yourself and the baby. They don't say what exactly can happen to the baby when exposed to Seroquel (maybe they don't know) But they do mention that Seroquel is secreted in breast milk. A side question? I also am bipolar, I'm wondering if you are taking lithium, I know that one can cause congenital heart defects. My understanding is that the defects can generally be fixed by surgery, but that is so scary! I'm finding it very difficult to find accurate info about all the bipolar drugs in general in regards to pregnancy. Even my psychiatrist and obgyn can't tell me a whole lot! I guess we're relegated to surfing the web for answers. Please post back if anyone has any good info on any bipolar drugs and pregnancy. ↑
