i'm 20 years old, but i'll be turning 21 soon. i've wanted to have a family since i was 18 but i've been attending college. my fiance and i both have good jobs and we've discussed what we'll do during and after the pregnancy, but i'm not sure if i should wait a few more years or not. my mother is in the military, so i can keep her medical benifits until i turn 23, but i'm not sure if i want to wait that long. i fully understand the change a baby will make in our lives, and that it will be very expensive. unlike a lot of my friends, i like to stay home rather than go out to party. while i'm still underaged i have had my fill of drinking, which i never did a lot of. i get different answers form different people, mostly half for and against having a baby now. i'm not sure what to do. ↓

If both you and your fiance want to start, why not? It would be nice to make sure that you have medical benefits for your children. You are at the doctor *so* often with a child for both well baby visits and ear infections, sniffles, fevers, etc. I waited for my children until I was in my 30s, and that made life a lot easier. But, I have friends who started early, and now they are able to enjoy the fact that they can go out at night while the kids (teenagers) take care of themselves. Meanwhile, I am still changing diapers. You are just trading security for youthful energy. I hate to be snarky, but I giggled when you said "I fully understand the change a baby will make in our lives." No one does. It is a humbling experience at any age. Just plan to be surprised. ↑
