[ Original Post ]
hi! I am downloading some music to start listening to to help me with the "baby mood". I got the idea from a magazine, and I used a few songs off of their list. Now that we know we are having a boy, I would like to add some songs written just for boys to the list. I have "I see me" by travis tritt. I like music from any era or genre basically, so any suggestions are more than helpful!!! Thanks!!

I'm trying to find the same thing...I'm going to make a video to music when my baby boy is born...and video everyone at the hospital, etc....the only one I've found is Jamey Johnson "the dollar" that refers to a little boy. I'll have to listen to the travis tritt one. Good luck!

I LOVE the song "there goes my life" by Kenny chesney...but it refers to a baby girl....=( let me know if you come accross anything similar to that for a boy. Thanks!

Hey you, you're a child in my head You haven't walked yet Your first words have yet to be said But I swear you'll be blessed I know you're still just a dream your eyes might be green Or the bluest that I've ever seen Anyway you'll be blessed And you, you'll be blessed You'll have the best I promise you that I'll pick a star from the sky Pull your name from a hat I promise you that, promise you that, promise you that You'll be blessed I need you before I'm too old To have and to hold To walk with you and watch you grow And know that you're blessed

I know there's one by John Lennon. I think it's call "Beautiful Boy." I heard it on the movie, "Mr. Holland's Opus." It's a very nice song.

"Godspeed" by the Dixie Chicks is a beautiful song Natlie wrote for her little boy. Also "A New Day Has Come" by Celine Dion is about finally having a baby boy after suffering with infertility.

Just an idea but maybe if you visit a Wedding Website and look at some of the ideas they have for Mother/Son dances, they may have some good suggestions. One song that I absoultely adore is by Gretch Wilson. It's on her All Jacked UP CD and is called "Holding you". This is the chorus Holding you, holds me together When holding on gets just a little too hard When this tight rope I travel begins to unravel And I feel like I'm falling apart Holding you, holds me together Good luck to all of you, I hope you find that perfect song!

I think I'll like "the day you gave me a son" by babyface the most for a baby boy...especially since he says first thing how he found out they were pregnant in Dec...which is when I found out! =) but I cant seem to find a place online where I can listen to the whole song...I can only find places that let me hear teeny clips..?

I'm making a CD right now for my expecting friend: try these great songs: SNOWBALL by Hoagy Carmichael, Paul Simon's ST. JUDY'S COMET, The Divine Comedy's CHARMED LIFE, Talking Head's STAY UP LATE, Kristen Hersh's MOMMA'S GONNA BUY, HUSH LITTLE BABY by Bobby McFerrin and ,of course, (though about a little girl) Stevie Wonder's wonderful ISN"T SHE LOVELY. You can find all of these for free on Kazaa if you're patient.

Now that baby's here, you should check out "When You Dream" by the Barenaked Ladies. It's a beautiful lullaby, very soft & slow: "With life just begun, my sleeping new son has eyes that roll back in his head They flutter and dart, he slows down his heart and pictures a world past his bed It's hard to believe As I watch you breathe Your mind drifts and weaves When you dream, what do you dream about? When you dream, what do you dream about? Do you dream about music or mathematics or planets too far for the eye? Do you dream about Jesus or quantum mechanics or angels who sing lullabies?" etc...

I realize that this is an old one, but figured that if anyone did look back or someone new was looking I would give this song that I used for my son's video. It is called "Simple Man" by Shinedown. It is kind of rock but a very good song if you listen to the lyrics.
