| Answer: Kristin, my EPO softgels are 500mg each. I've read that your dose for cm should be 1500-3000 mg per day. I've been taking one softgel 3 times a day and then at the middle dose, once in a while, I'd throw in an extra one. So I've been taking 1500-2000 mg a day. I'm going to continue taking it until I know ovulation is over...like a typical post-O temp. I read an article written by the head of ob/gyn (who specializes in high risk pregnancies) at the University of Pennsylvania, which is one of the most well-respected medical programs and hospitals we have here. I'm following her advice for now. I'm not taking a major prenatal vitamin...just supplementing with particular things (folic acid, some Bs, a teeny bit of iron, and some calcium). = |
| Answer: I had a positive OPK this afternoon. I didn't want to go into all of this earlier, but there's actually some confusion because I was trying a couple of different brands...just to see...and the first POSSIBLE positive...which I don't really think counted...was last night. Anyway, that led me to the internet today and I found this on a reviews website: Recently, Consumer Reports tested ovulation prediction kits using urine samples spiked with LH.[13] (At peak, LH surges are typically less than 22 to 100 mIU/mL.) The organization followed labeling directions for the products and tested samples using 11 brands, slowly increasing the amounts of LH until the tests showed a positive response. Researchers read the results after the manufacturers' suggested reading time (eg, one to five minutes) and again after the maximal allowed reading time (eg, 10 to 60 minutes). The results were surprising. Many products were unable to detect LH in concentrations that would meet their labeling claims of 99% clinical accuracy. Only one, the ClearPlan Easy Ovulation Test Pack (since renamed the ClearBlue Easy Ovulation Test Pack) detected LH in concentrations as low as 22 mIU/mL. The second most sensitive test, the ClearPlan Easy Fertility Monitor, was sensitive only as low as 36 mIU/mL. Among the least sensitive tests were the First Response Pregnancy Planning Kit, which detected only 91 mIU/mL, and the Answer Quick & Simple One-Step Ovulation test. Only one out of six Answer kits detected 91 mIU/mL, making it the worst choice. With hope, manufacturers of these kits will increase the sensitivity of their products. Until updated information on the clinical accuracy of these products is available, pharmacists should recommend the products that performed best in independent testing. ++++Interesting, huh? I'm shocked that there's that much disparity in the darn things. Remember the issues I had last month with the OPKs? Well, both types of test strips I used last month were Answer brand. The "tracker" and the "one step." NO WONDER the "one step" one never showed a positive! Holy cow!!! They're the WORST choice! I wonder where the tracker stacks up? Anyway, I purchased a membership to Consumer Reports a while ago. I'm going to go to their website and see if I can find the info on OPKs. = |
| Answer: Found it. A problem though is that it's from 2003, so manufacturers may have changed their products andConsumer Reports didn't test a lot of the brands that we use today. There was only one that was given an "excellent" rating in their tests - the ClearBlue Easy test. The only "very good" was the the ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor. There were a bunch of "goods" - in order: CVS, Eckerd, Iverness (Accu Clear), Rite Aid, Target, and Walgreen's. First Response and Answer One Step got "Poor" ratings. As I said, those results are from a 2003 study so it may have limited applicability today. BUT...to be on the safe side..I think I may just stick with ClearBlue from now on and just deal with the sticker shock! BTW - I also checked out Consumer Reports Pregnancy Test Ratings. First Response was the clear winner.

| Answer: Friday! Finally! Good morning, ladies. I'm on CD11 (or 12 or 13) and am officially lost. First I wasn't sure exactly which day to call CD1. Then there was confusion about the OPK results. Now there's also confusing temperatures. No clue when or if I already ovulated or if I'm just getting ready to. I've about had it with worrying and stressing and trying to figure this stuff out for this month. We bd'd last night and this morning. If we feel like it, we will again tonight. If we don't feel like it - screw it. (pardon the pun) I'm gonna go have a cup of tea and forget all about ttc-ing for a while! Have a good day. = |
| Answer: still nothing.............................. Ill be one week late sunday. = |
| Answer: Aspen thanks for all the info on OPK's. I am and have used the clearplan easy fertility monitor but it is the pee on the stick kind (is that the one you mean has good results?). I fell pregnant using these with my lo. I only used them one month when I got preggers with her. When I got preggers with my ectopic I had ewcm..so I bought a pack and the test was positive with just one test. Did it that night (one time only) that cycle..and I got pregnant again. I think Clearplan sounds like it is probably the best. I also do not recommend the first response hpt. I have had 2 false negatives with that brand..which is bullsh*T because you have to buy more tests to make sure. Aspen don't get too discouraged. As long as you are having sex during your fertile time which you are... You should be covered. I know we like to get a window into our fertility so we know if we had sex close to our "O's" but you can drive yourself nuts comparing brands. It is just a matter of time for all of us. Bottom line have sex every day for the week leading up to your O then a couple days or so beyond for good measure. Let's all try to remain stress free. Oh and thanks for the info on the EPO. I took 1 caplet thismorning..but it says to take 3-4 a day..and not to take beyond 12 weeks? I asked the herbalist and he said he did not no why it said not beyond 12 weeks other than your body should have EPO and to only maintain your levels by 1 a day after that time. I know that you should not take beyond your O as to avoid uterine contractions. Anyway..Joelle have you done another hpt? I read somewhere that it can be completely normal to have the odd lengthy cycle or shorten one..as long as your luteal phase is long enough. I started the b6 a while back and that could be the reason for the extra day or two. The b6 is suppose to lengthen luteal phase and looks like it may have..again it is only suppose to legthen it by a couple of days. So I am on cd 7or 8 I think (duh) and we bd'd this morning. I had some sorta fertile cm yesterday..but Iknow it would be early in my cycle. I also had partail ferning on my microscope but none today. I guess it just means I am approaching a fertile time in my cycle. Have a nice day and weekend ladies. Keep on bd'ing Aspen..and Joelle my fingers and toes are crossed for you. xo = |
| Answer: Joelle~what are your temps like?? This may give you a good indication of pregnancy too? ARe they elevated? (Do you take your temps?) = |
| Answer: I just got home from a lunch with my girlfriends ...We had Sangria and italian... i got home 10 min ago and grabbed my ept test......
BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- it is FAINT. BUt it is there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-!- = |
| Answer: Now im 2nd guessing...is it there??? am i imagining things??? i have to go by the door to seee it in the light....oh god. Boyfriend is sleeping and noone to talk to.........if I am i will hold out till Fathers Day and tell him that way!!! = |
| Answer: Its definitely a BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its DEFINITELY PINK. Very light but PINK. Can someone help me figure out how far along i would be???? = |
| Answer: joellewantsababy - Congtats and I'm not sure but I would say if you are late then you could be anywhere between 3 to 4 weeks along. Are you going to test again? I'm so happy for you. Krissy68 = |
| Answer: thanks krissy! i looked at fertility friend and it has me pegged at 4 weeks with a due date of february 5th. = |
| Answer: JOELLE!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Perl was right...when she gets back ans checks in again someone WILL have reported a BFP. Way to go, girl! Now we're sending extra special STICKY baby dust to you! I was gonna suggest that you use the FF calculator for your due date but you did that already. WOO HOO! Now you and me Kristin....we gotta join Joelle and Perl soon! = |
| Answer: Kristin, thanks for the pep talk. I know you're right. I'm just one of those people who likes clear-cut answers in cases like this and I can't stand it when I'm not sure of my footing. Next month I'm just going to buy the Clear Blue OPK and be done with it. Yes...the monitor you're using is the only one with the "very good" rating. I have no idea why the EPO directions say to not take it beyond 12 weeks. Hmmm...I'm not taking it any more this cycle but I'll look around the internet and see if I can find any info on that. Maybe they mean don't take it for more than 12 weeks in a row? Dunno. At any rate, I'm going to switch to Omega 3 fish oil now for the rest of this cycle and then switch back to EPO on CD1. I can't say that the EPO (or the carrots -lol) helped this month, but SOMETHING definitely made my cm better. So in case it was one of those two things, I'll definitely keep it up. = |
| Answer: Oh...CD13 today. I was hoping that to relieve my confusion my temp would either shoot up to normal post-O levels (97.7s) or dip down to a characteristic "dip before the rise" level (97.1 or 97.2). Nope...it did the one thing that tells me nothing...I got EXACTLY the same temp as yesterday morning...97.48. Lol. (I tested my thermometer...it works fine.) Even Fertility Friend is confused. It's tentatively putting ovulation on day 10 but it's with dotted lines....and I don't believe it was day 10 anyway...my OPK wasn't even positive until day 11. Who knows? We're gonna bd one more time tonight just to be on the safe side and then we'll just wait and see. = |
| Answer: Wow!!! Joelle..that's fantastic! Congrats on the BFP!!!!!!!! Very happy for you!!! Let us know how things progress! Are you gonna have a blood test? When are you going to tell the dh? All the best to you!! LEt us know how you are feeling????For me we bd'd last night but I have not started my opk's yet. I have not had additional ferning yet either. I am suppose to be apporaching my fertile time early next week. Aspen~ it looks like it is just you and me kiddo...we are in this together..do you still think you will take time off. I hope not. But it is good for us to relax a bit. I have to run.. but will check in when the lo naps. again Congratulations Joelle I couldn't be happier for you. Sticky sticky Baby Dust Girlfriend!! = |
| Answer: Happy Saturday. Well I am at school now and feeling queasy. I In a great mood but queazy. I am making an appt monday to see the doc to take the blood test but im prettttttttttttttttttttttttttttttty sure this is it.. My suggestion for you all to copy what i did? bd on 8th, 10th 12th 14th and 17th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! = |
| Answer: I disappear for a couple weeks, and we've got a new thread and a BFP. Congrats, Joelle!!! LOTS of sticky dust to you. Just wanted to stay HI to everyone. It's been a little over two weeks since the mini-vacuum aspiration. It all went smoothly, much better than the hospital procedure last January. Very little bleeding afterwards. Dh and I bd'd before the 2 weeks were up, and it wasn't the least bit painful unlike last time. Thinking I'm O'ing or about to, got the clear egg white cm, right on schedule. Expecting AF to show up around 6/16. So far, we're still planning to wait three cycles that my ob recommended. Last time, we only waited two. Anway, I hope to see lots more BFPs before then. Baby dust to you all. = |
| Answer: FYI: Last time, dh and I bd'd on the 10th, 12th, 14th, and 17th, too. One of those days hit the jackpot. Course, I've got a pretty reliable 28-day cycle. Good luck eveyone. = |
| Answer: Hey gals...Calitrish..nice to hear from you again. Glad your aspiration ran smoothly. Hoping you will get back on the band wagon when you are ready. Joelle~ How are you feeling?Have you told the Daddy yet?? Thanks for the advice on bding dates ...but seeing that I have an approx 28 day cycle..and I have bd'd similarily to those days... but maybe I need to tack on a few more days ;) when I fell preggers with Zoe..we just did it every day while on holidays. and BAM! I hope to do it as much as we can starting tomorrow and all week. I want the dh to save all his little guys for me..none for Palmela ;) if you know what I mean. Anyway, I am cd8 noticed some egcm again..have not done an opk yet..think it is still a little early but FF says I should be doin' it. Anway..gotta run. BABY DUSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT = |
| Answer: On looking at the earlier posts on when you are BDing..I see a lot of the grls here dont start till the 14th....I really think my doctor was rght when he said to start around 8-16th. then STOP. If I had gone by fertility friend and my OPK i would not have gotten pregnant!!!!!!!! My stick did not even SHOW A POSITIVE till the 15th but i got pregnant around the 10th.........so who KNOWS. As far as how i am feeling: SICK. Nauseaus and feel feverish....real hot and sweaty.. then it goes away! Other than that ive been deliriously good mood just anxious to get to the doctor. Anyone else having any symptoms? Kristin? How ya feeling there? Calitrish--good to hear form yoU! PERL----helloooooooooooooooooooooooo: ASPEN: Hang in there girl!!!!!!!!!!--Krissy, Bd BD BD! = |
| Answer: Joelle, sorry you're feeling queasy but I'm happy to hear that you're in a great mood! Hmmm....I'm trying to think who waits until the CD14 to bd. I think what we've usually said was some variation of "at LEAST every other day until your OPK goes positive and then every day." If I'd waited until cd14 this month, I would have missed the whole thing! We ended up bd'ing on CD8, CD11, CD12, and CD13 this month. (Schedules just did'nt work out for CD10.) We'll bd on CD 15 too, for good measure, although I'm pretty sure I ovulated already and CD15 is waaaay too late to get pregnant for this cycle. After that, we'll just switch to doing whenever we feel like it. Hope the nausea doesn't get too bad! What has helped you with nausea in the past? -KRISTIN - Lol! Definitely no swimmers for Palmela!!!! Too funny. Don't worry, even if I take a month off of ttc next month, I won't be going anywhere. I have a couple of really big jobs to do around the house which involve lots of heavy, heavy lifting and just generally back-breaking stuff. I want a month when I can do whatever the heck I want to do for all 4 weeks...know what I mean? Remember when you were thinking that you might be pregnant and were constantly angsting about whether or not you should lift this or push that or whatever? That's what I mean. I just need some time to bang stuff out and not have any inhibitions about it. I don't know yet though if it will be next month or the month after. BUT....it won't matter anyway...because you and I are both gonna get our BFPs this cycle! -CALITRISH- Oh, it's so nice to see your screen name again! I'm glad things have gone well and you really sound like you're doing okay. It must be so hard to wait the time suggested by your doctor when you're seeing ewcm and just "feeling" fertile. But it's probably really smart to wait if you can stand it. Please keep stopping by and letting us know how you're doing. -PERL - Hi...wherever you are. We're getting a little concerned. I hope to hear soon that you had a great vacation and then just got super busy....and not that some mean ole doctor put you on bed rest where you can't get to your computer! = |
| Answer: Kristin, - btw, when we get our bfps this month, I'll guess I'll just have to get hubby to do all that work around the house, huh? Lol. = |
| Answer: That's the optimism I like to hear Aspen! Now that we have the hang of ttc ;) I truly feel like I will get preggers this month. I am trying to be optimistic :) Joelle I don't wait until the 14th to bd either ...or I kow I';d totally miss the mark. I have usually started atleast the week b4...but sometimes burn out when the OPK's are positive. I feel really healthy these days. Knock on wood! I was sick for my first 2 cycles ttc and last two cycles were short and then long. Anyway, Joelle since you have a cycle 4 days shorter than mine or Aspen's it makes sense that you would start a little earlier. I usually start bd'ing once the af is gone. Anyway, sorry to hear your feeling a little crappy..but being happy can totally override the nausea. And yes Aspen your dh is going to be doing allllll the lifting this cycle...February Babies for us all!!! xo ladies. and btw cd9 for me :)talk to you all soon = |
| Answer: I have a good feeling about this group of girls!!! WE NEED ONE MORE BFP THIS WEEK. Come on girlies!!! = |
| Answer: I AM MAD. So I called the obgyn and told them I wanted to come in and get a blood test. She told me that they dont do them unless theres "need for concern". I told her my concern was i did a hpt at home and that it was a tad on the faint side. She said to me"When we test our patients with the urine tests and its a "tad on the faint side" we call that Pregnant".-----------so basically they dont do blood tests?? what the hck?? shoud i go to the hospital? i am not sure what to do. = |
| Answer: Yes go to the hospital!! Arghhh! Tell them you have had 3 miscarriages and your age and tell them you are concerned for your health and welfare of your baby..tell them you need and hcg..don't except no. That is just ridiculous. = |
| Answer: cd10 for me had ewcm agaiun..bd'd this morning, yesterday morning and sat day and night. I think I may start my opk's....Joelle~have you done another hpt? is the line darker? anyway~ go get the blood test..I can't believe the american health care..sorry but in canada we seem to be taken care of way better than this! = |
| Answer: KRISTIN: USA sucks for healthcare. It really does... so here is what is going on. I called the obgyn clinic at our hospital and talked to the lady in charge. She got me in tomorrow to get a test then even went ahead and set me up for an exam on Jne 23rd( they are booked solid). I havent taken another test but at 12 tomorrow i go to a place to get one... i have FIRED the obgyn........... The only good thing they were for was him telling me to make sure you ALWAYS bd on th 8th and forward then stop. It worked. I will update you all tomorrow. = |
| Answer: Hi everyone, I'm back!!! We just came back home from vacation yesterday. JOELLE: Congratulations on your BFP!!!! I was soo happy to come back and read everyone's posts and especially Joelle's posts building up to a BFP. For what it's worth, my first hpt was "invalid" my 2nd one had two very faint lines and the 3rd hpt had one dark and one faint line. Sounds like you are definitely pregnant!! So happy for you! I didn't get any blood testing done until my first prenatal appointment either which was at week 10 I think. They pretty much rely on the hpt. I didn't actually believe I was pregnant until I got my first ultrasound at week 13. I hope you don't have to wait that long but if you do just trust that all is okay. If you have any weird cramping or spotting by all means insist on seeing your ob/gyn asap. But you seem to have all the right symptoms. ASPEN & KRISTIN: YOU TWO ARE NEXT!!!! I can't wait to congratulate you on your BFP's too. Aspen: I like the idea of having a "get stuff done" weekend. Our house is overflowing with stuff that we would need a whole month of "get stuff done" weekends. CALITRISH: It was nice to hear from you and to know that you are doing well. Don't be a stranger, we miss hearing from you. = |
| Answer: Almost forgot to include my update: The day before we left, I spoke with an advice nurse who told me that based on my blood tests and 24 hour urine test, I am still anemic and I definitely have protein in my urine. She told me it was safe to travel but watch out for certain things. Then she made some diet recommendations and told me which symptoms to look out for and told me to know where my nearest hospital was (during vacation) so that if I felt any of those symptoms I should get myself to a hospital immediately. Other than being a little cautious, vacation was great. DH, my little boy and I enjoyed our time at a desert resort in Arizona. Not much we could do while there being that I'm 6 + months pregnant and my lo is only 18 months old so no jeep tours or horseback riding, or bike rides for us. We did some fun kids parks, zoo, museums and lots of swimming/sunbathing. My hands started swelling so I had to put my wedding ring on my pinky finger but amazingly my feet don't look swollen. The temperatures started rising towards 100 degrees and was supposed to be up to 105 the day we left--perfect timing! Being in my 3rd trimester this summer is not going to be the most pleasant thing but I'm happy and going to make the best of it anyway. = |
| Answer: Hi Kristin--I apologize if I am intruding in this forum...I just wanted to get a message to Kristin...thank you for your support and concern...I've been waiting since last Tuesday for my blood test results!!!! I've been seeing a new Dr (do not care for her) so I will be changing Dr ASAP...the health care system in Florida is sub-standard...anyway it is now 6-2 Monday and still no results!!! I am really starting to lose my patience...thanks for checking hope all is going well with you...Tina = = |
| Answer: PERL, your vacation sounds wonderful! And great timing.. ..105 degrees? YUCK! Lol. You definitely got out of there at the right time. 105 probably feels like 185 when you're 6+ months pregnant. Anyway, welcome back! -JOELLE- I'm so glad you got your appointment at the hospital. Let us know how it goes. How are you feeling today? Still icky? -KRISTIN- I think starting your OPKs today is a good idea. Mine went positive on day 11. I seem to have ovulated much earlier than I'm used to this month and you and I have had these strange similarities going the last couple of months. So anyway...you never know... lol.. February sounds like a great month to give birth to me, what to do you think? Something to look forward to during the last dreary, icky winter months? -MY UPDATE- 5dop for me (actually, I think it's 4dpo...I think FF is wrong). But anyway, just doin' the 2ww thing. Gotta love it! = |
| Answer: OH NO!!!!!!!!--- I woke up and wiped and there was a VERY lite brown cm... wiped agin--gone.Not in panties. Several times today wiped...lite brown, mucusy. WENT TO TARGET and got test...BFP.
my head hurts so bad from crying. the only hope i have is that its so early thus the faint and the one today ( i have already peed like 5 times before i took it)---I AM SU UPSET THOUGH.......... I DONT KNOW WHAT TO THINK!~ = |
| Answer: Joelle, try to stay calm, sweetie. Everything is going to be okay. I did some looking around online and while there are stories of women who had bad outcomes after brown spotting, the vast majority of the stories I read had happy endings, especially when it happened as early as yours is happening. It could be left-over implantation blood or from changing hormones or the planets being lined up the wrong way. (I'm kidding about that last one, but lots of women whose stories I read said that they never really got a good explanation.) Besides, you're the one who is famous for having whole periods while pregnant, right? So maybe a little spotting is completely, totally, normal for you. What time is your appointment? = |
| Answer: its red now. im on way to emergency room...then im moving to CANADA. = |
| Answer: Oh, Joelle....I'm holding my breath for you. We love you. Keep us posted. = |
| Answer: Firstly, Joelle..stay calm my friend. I spotted with Zoe...at 6 weeks for a week and again for a week at 9 weeks..no explantation. I had cramping as well. Thought for sure it was all over for me..but the bean hung on. Oh and my former pregnancy I spotted at 8 weeks again but there was a strong heart beat...which later ended at 14 weeks. They told there was a slight placenta previa. where the placenta was not attached in a small spot thus causing the blood. I hope everything will be ok for you...This morning you should have been taken in immediately. Do not stress..try to remain calm. We are here for you. Gemini~thanks for contacting me here..and you are always welcome here anytime. I hope you get your results very soon. I never realised how many problems people can run into in the U.S. So sorry for you gals. Anyway..I am doing fine..my Dad's birthday today he is 79!! I am cd10 bd'd this morning and did an opk this afternoon it was a faint line..so I will test again tomorrow. The dh is sleeping..he went to bed early but I am thinking I should wake him up.. ;) Anyway, I so hope everything is ok for Joelle. Aspen and Perl just wanted to say hi..I will check in later..glad youa are back safe and sound Perl. = |
| Answer: Just checkin' in on my girlfriend, Joelle. No word yet, I see. I'm still holding my breath and crossing my fingers. = |
| Answer: Joelle? What's going on, kiddo? = |
| Answer: 5 or 6dpo for me. A little crampy. No big deal. Just like last month. Hanging out, keeping busy, waiting to see if AF arrives. -KRISTIN, how's the bd'ing going? Hi PERL. = |
| Answer: Hi. I spent the night at the hospital and got home at 5am and just woke up to find an IV STILL IN MY ARM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They never took it out. An ambulance is on its way now to my house to remove it.
My blood level was a 20. Its over.NO sign or sac. Negative tests... a kidney stone was found as well. I am home on pain meds.. I am so sad... = |
| Answer: Hi all--I'm 41 and have been in another thread for 2ww with some pals but have been hovering here, I love this thread. I'm TTC cycle #4 and i wantd to say this is where I get my daily inspiration-two great threads and this is one of them. So I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to JOELLE! (i'd love to know what the "tip" is for doing it from CD8 and then stopping is..) and tell her I know, USA healthcare is the pits. Hang in there and thank you for having a 35-plus thread. I'd like to keep checking in and hope to get to know y'all. CONGRATS TO EVERYONE IN THE GAME! (it's tougher than I thought it would be--lots of negative messages in otuside world!) = |
| Answer: I think I posted and guess what? It didn't go through so I reposted without looking at new post.
I don't know what to say, except I'm also sad for you but truly inspired by your willingness to be so brave and keep trying and share it all here. I hope you feel supported and loved here and I'm sorry if I intruded at just the wrong time. Be good to yourself. = |
| Answer: JOELLE: I'm so sorry to hear you had a rough night at the hospital. Are the pain meds for the kidney stones? What does it mean when your blood level is 20? I guess then that you had a complete ultrasound of all your organs? You got a couple of positive hpts at home and their tests were negative? I'd do another hpt anyway. I don't want to give you false hopes but I have heard of some women going in for ultrasound and having nothing detected early on and then later on somewhere around week 8, lo and behold there is the sac and little heartbeat. Still no AF right? so maybe this is a possibility? Either way, hang in there. I can't believe they let you go with and IV in your arm. What's wrong with them?! That would cause me to lose a lot of confidence in them and their medical opinions. ***CLARE41: it's good to hear from you again. How have you been? Give us an update on you when you can. = |
| Answer: Hey Perl..thanks for asking. I'm thinking of you Joelle. That all sounds so draining. Hang in there...
So I'll take any advice from anyone with any experience. lol.
Here's my deal Perl - thanks for asking. TTC cycle 3 coming up. Two cycles using Fertility Monitor nad OPK showed OV aboud midcyle of a 27-28CD. Got smiley faces and peaks, etc.
Then got news. DH has thyroid issue discovered during regular checkup. On meds, they told us to call if we don't get PG in June given our ages and the fact that they needed this month to see if his blood levels normalized from meds. They suspect low levels made 2 months of trying reeaaaaaaaaaaal long shots but don't know.
I haven't had FSH workup or any of that and will after June because my doc said to check in July 1 if I had no good news for full post-40 workup
I have friends who did IUI wiht DH sperm and bank sperm (younger) and got lucky wiht 1. I don't know what's in store for us at all.
Looking for tips. Have heard I should BD every other day from 8-20. Getting po'd toward friends who are very workd up I am starting to late and want me to go straight to outside help.
Sigh. Long story. Sorry bout that. = |
| Answer: Hi girls I wanted to give you all my update. I went to the gyn and I got the second best birthday gift to myself. Well of course I couldn't hold out so I did a hpt and it was neg I am on 7dpo and my temp dip real low to 98.46. Anyway I told the dr that I wanted another baby and I don't have forever. He gave me a new prescription of clomid I will take this cycle if I'm not pg on cd 3-7 50mg and then cd 8-12 estradiol (it is estrogen but what is it for) then I am to bd from cd 10-16 and on cd 17 start progesterone supplemntation and if I get pg then I will stay on the prog until I am 10 weeks. I am so excited but a little nervous. I will try this route for 3 cycles and then move onto something else.

| Answer: Joellewantsababy - I am just now reading all the post and I am so sorry. Sending you a hug. Krissy68 = |
| Answer: Joelle, ofcourse there would be no sac or heartbeat at hcg of 20. You must go back for another hcg in 48 hours to see if levels are doubling. It is probably way to early for you to have higher hcg than 20. My first hcg with Zoe was 45 It was very early and hb was not seen at 6 weeks for me..anyway we are talking about a cells that are sooooo minute that they can not see them usuallt until atleast 6 weeks. Even with my ectopic they could not even say for sure that it was in my tubes..it was just tooo small. Anyway my thoughts are with you. For me did not bd last night as the dh crashed...nor this morning..and found out my dh is going to Montreal this weeked for the Formula 1 car race. He will bd gone on my cd 14 (Fri) as well as cd15 and 16 just great!! :( I am screwed this cycle. I hope we atleast do it tonight through thursday. But FF tells me I usually "O" around cd16. Oh I am so disappointed. Anyway, welcome back Clare41...Krissy hi again congrats on the new meds for pregnancy. I am on cd 11 got a faint line again on my opk...forgot to check my ferning microscope. I will be back later..as lo is here on my lap and it makes it impossible to type.Hi Aspen and PErl! = |
| Answer: Kristin72 - Thanks and I will keep you updated. I am 7dpo cd 25 so we shall see if she show up. Krissy68 = |
| Answer: I am bleeding heavy now... its not that bad as I had expected...I will try again next month for SURE. I wont let this get me down....thepain meds feel GREAT and I think i JUST MAY get a cold beer tonight... = |
| Answer: We're rooting for you Krissy! This may be it for you...which days did you bd this cycle. Joelle...can you explain what happened...are they not going to retest your hcg? Just because you are bleeding that does not necessarily mean it is over?? What did the doctors say? I am glad you have a good attitude about trying next cycle..but did they confirm pregnancy? Is this a miscarriage..sorry I am just trying to understand. My thoughts are with you. = |
| Answer: Krissy..question when you got your faint bfp..which brand was it? I got a faint bfp then a neg at the doctors office I was also 3-4 days late. I was using first responseafter I got the neg at the doc office I came home and did another test the following day and it came up negative. Krissy are you in the U.S? Anyone from Canada on this thread? I have brothers in California and Florida. I live in Toronto Canada. :) Bye for now = |
| Answer: Kristin72 - I live in California. I got the $1 store brand and then I brought an answer brand. I have one left but I have several of the other ones. I bd on cd 10, cd 13-15 and cd 17. I ovulated on cd 18. If you need anything else let me know. Krissy68 = |
| Answer: Hi, everyone. JOELLE, I don't know what to say. I feel so sad for you. You must be so disappointed. You have a great attitude though. Truly impressive. Be extra kind to yourself for a while. You deserve it. I'm so confused though...did they say what they expected your hCG level to be only 9 days or so after your missed period was supposed to start? And what kind of test did they give you? I just read that a lot of them aren't designed to detect hCG at levels lower than 22....so if that's the kind of test they gave you, of course it's negative. You sound like you've done a truly remarkable job of accepting the loss, so I don't want to mess with that in any way. I just don't quite understand some of what they said to you. Anyway, you're in my thoughts for sure. -KRISSY - Good luck! I'm glad you got your Clomid script. Now here's hoping you never need to take it! :-) - CLARE - Forget what other people say! It's your body and your decision. If you want to try for a completely "natural" conception before trying any outside help, then so be it. They don't need to like your decision or even understand it...they just have to honor it! Of course, those people are probably so worked up precisely because they care about you and don't want you to be disappointed, right? The "tip" Joelle was talking about was that her doc told her to bd on cd8, cd10, cd12, cd14, and cd16 and then stop....basically every other day from cd10 to cd16. Joelle's typical cycles are 24 days long though, so her best bd'ing dates might be a little earlier than yours or mine. I've been O'ing all over the place the last few cycles so I'm sticking with an early start date (8th) and continuing until I know I've ovulated and it's too late for that cycle. Once I see a positive OPK I switch to bding every day if hubby and I have it in us. Did that make sense? KRISSY and CLARE both, are you on Fertility Friend? KRISTIN - between Palmella and car races, your dh is really making this tough on you, huh? Brother! All isn't necessarily lost though. You know the math as well as I do....if you're having good fertile cm his swimmers can hang out and wait for that ole egg for a few days. DEFINITELY bd on Thursday night even if you have to tie him down and do it yourself! LOL. What time is he leaving on Friday? Any chance for a morning quickie before he heads out? -PERL- how are your feet doing? Still no swelling? How do you feel overall? How many weeks are you now? -CALITRISH - we miss you. Hope you're doing well. = |
| Answer: Good morning everyone. Today is bad. lots of cramping and heavy bleeding. not good but normal... the emergecy room here said no pregnancy detected in the serum or their hpt so i assume it was a Chemical Pregnancy who KNOWS.. at this point all that matters to me is its gone. my bfp didnt stay...and now its all over till next month........... im PISSED and Mad but what can I do? nothing. ON A LIGHTER NOTE: The puppies are DELICIOUSLY ADORABLE! Ther eyes opened a few days ago and they are creeping around and holding thir heads up. So cute!!!!! = |
| Answer: Hi everyone--Vacation sounds like good idea Jo!
I'm CD3 and here are the answers to your questions.
I use ClearPlan Fertility Monitor and ClearPlan OPKs. (with smiley faces right?)
I am on FF-my VIP free status just expired as I'm TTC cycle 4. So I registered. I also am temping this cycle so only have 3 temps recorded.
I'm supposed to call my dr. after thting cycle for testing for both of us if we don't get BFP by July 1 due to our ages.
Right now just takingprenatal, evening primrose, and trying to give up coffee.
That's the deal from here....thanks for asking!
I'm just learning ot char = |

And I think I'm going to bring ack the first response OPKs I got on sale and stick to the smiley faces. They have showed for me 1 day each cycle. Last monght I had EWCM also, but another BFN. = |
| Answer: Hi Girls! Krissy it sounds like you got your basis covered for bd'ing this cycle. I wish you best of luck. Joelle~so the pregnancy test they did at the hospital was neg? So I wonder if it was a chemical or if you were truly pregnant or if your test gave you a false pos? It's saddening any way you look at it. But hop on the saddle and you will ttc again in less than a week :) I too was late and had a faint line with First Response brand and then neg at the doc office. I doubt mine was a chemical pregnancy..but I felt some weird cramping in my lower abdomen. I think it is more of the let down that makes us feels so bad. To feel so elated then to feel like you are back to square one. Anyway..on a lighter note. I am on cd12 bd'd last night had ewcm yesterday, and again today. Got to get my bd'ing in again tonight...and as much as possible until Friday when the dh goes away for the weekend. I hope I don't ovulate on Sat or Sunday and I miss the mark...but with my luck. Dh gets back late Sun night. Hopefelly the spermies from can survive until Sunday if I "O" then. Now, I am going to go and do another opk to see if I am getting closer. Hope everyone is well. Aspen how are you feeling. Clare sounds like you are doing all the right things...I have been charting off and on for a while..I still get confused. Talk to you all in a bit after my OPK. xo = |
| Answer: CLARE: don't let dh's thyroid problem discourage your efforts, it's definitely a factor but whatever you do don't give up! My dh had testicular cancer when he was younger and we weren't sure if we even had a chance to have children but it happened for us. It can happen for you too. I hope the thyroid condition can be helped soon with meds. KRISSY: I know of a couple of women who had much success with Clomid. I hope it does for you too!! KRISTIN: your dh sounds so typical--LOL We go through all the agonizing and planning to bd at just the right dates and for men, some sports event come along and everything else goes to the backburner for a bit. JOELLE: thinking of you. It's great that you have those puppies to cheer you up and distract you. ASPEN: no AF yet? Could this be your month? My feet haven't swollen anymore (yet). Nor my hands but I'm watching them and monitoring my salt and meat intake. I've gained 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks. The week before I gained 2 pounds in just one week. I'm starting to worry since rapid weight gain is another sign of preeclampsia. = |
| Answer: this definitely was a pregnancy..i have been through 12 pads today and have HUGE clots....im taking the vicodin but doesnt help that much...I hope someone gets a BFP tomorrow to cheer us all up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! = |
| Answer: Aspen8 - I hope you are right about not having to take the clomid but I have taken it before and it is no big deal to me as far as the s/e. Yes I am on fertility friend. How are you doing? I do have a question and I hope you can help me out. Well if I am not pg this time I will be on a new game plan and I will be taking 50mg/clomid cd 3-7 and 1mg/estradiol cd 8-12 (I think this is some type of estrogen but what is it for) bd cd 10-16 and then starting on cd 17 start taking progesteron supplemntation until I get a BFP if I do then I have to take it until I am 10wks along. I just got some bad news well my co-pay for that prog supp is going to cost me $50 can I just get another type? Please help me out on this.
Kristin72 - I'm like you I start bding right after I finish AF.
Perl - Thanks you for the update and I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation. Do you know what you are having? Just think in a few more months you will be holding your lo. This isn't the first time for me taking clomid I have taken it for 3 cycles and nothing was pg last cycle ended in m/c took this month off of taking clomid but a lot of ladies have said it stay in your system for a cycle so we shall see. I did do a hpt test yesterday for my birthday and it was neg which I already knew that. I will be taking another hpt on friday I will be cd 28 and 10dpo but AF is suppose to be here on the 10th. Rub your belly for me.
Joellewantsababy - Hang in there I know whe I was going through this last cycle and the pain meds wasn't helping me I started taking a hot shower as hot as you can stand and using my heating pad and that started helping me. Take care of yourself. Krissy68 = |
| Answer: Hi everyone. Sorry I couldn't stop in earlier today (well...yesterday now, I guess)...just crazy busy. -JOELLE-It made me smile to read about the puppies and to think that they're there, helping to lighten your mood some. -KRISTIN - I'm feeling fine. A little crampy once in a while but nothing major. That ewcm of yours sounds good. How many days each cycle do you usually have it? Do you think you're gonna hold out til Sunday to "O"? I really have my fingers crossed for you this month....I know dh isn't playing by the rules very well, but a bfp for you this cycle is still possible! -PERL - I'm not quite ready for AF yet....I'm only 7 or 8dpo. I'm just twiddling my thumbs and waitin'....luckily I have so much going on right now I'm not obsessing at all. How does meat consumption play into getting or avoiding preeclampsia? When do you go back to the doctor? Two pounds in a week does seem like a lot if you're doing everything possible to minimize water weight gain. I can gain 3 pounds in a day if I eat or drink the wrong thing...I blow up like a balloon. Doesn't sound like you normally have that problem? -KRISSY- About the clomid, I just meant, "here's hoping your pregnant this cycle so you never need to worry about next cycle." About the estradiol....I'm really far from an expert on this stuff, but if I understand correctly, estradiol (which IS a form of estrogen) is the next to last hormone to peak before ovulation and actually stimulates the pituitary gland to secrete Leutenizing hormone...which leads to the LH surge...which leads the egg follicle to release the egg. I can't swear that's right, but...I think so. As for the progesterone...wow...$50 copay! That's outrageous. I"d ask your doc if it can be a generic instead of a brand name. If so, I'd call Costco and see what their pharmacy would charge for the generic. You don't have to be a Costco member to use the pharmacy services and their prices can be outrageously low for generics...like....my brother does that and in some cases he can NOT use his Rx card, pay the full generic price, and end up paying less than he would paying his regular copay at another pharmacy. I have no idea if that would work for you or not, but I'd sure give it a try. -CLARE- I'm charting my 4th cycle and I think Kristin may have charted more than that. If you have questions, we might be able to help. Do you know what day you ovulated last cycle? Did you have the ewcm the same day as your positive OPK? I hear you about giving up coffee. I can live without my glass of fabulous wine with dinner on the weekends if I have to. I can temp and check cm and chart. I can take supplements until the cows come home. I can obsess and google and read and obsess some more. But that no coffee thing is a B*TCH! Lol! I used to be a hard core coffee drinker. Now I'm down to a couple of cups of decaf a month and one increda-cup of high test during AF. A client of ours roasts his own beans and shares. I love it. Like...love. L O V E. <sigh> :-(
-MY UPDATE- Well....as always I feel like my posts are ridiculously long. Anyway, I'm just waiting for Saturday 6/14. If there's no AF by then, I'll test. In the meantime, I'm getting super excited about next week. On Tuesday, I'm flying to Tampa and picking up my three pretend kids and bringing them back for 10 days. I can't WAIT! I haven't seen them since the beginning of April and that's just too darn long! I have to stop talking about it or I won't sleep. I'm THAT kind of excited! Good night all. I'll check in tomorrow....er.....later today. = |
| Answer: Hey everyone...
OK what's an EPO softgel? I'm taking a prenatal, evening primrose, and cod liver oil cuz i alwas did? Opinoins? I'll take any
I am on Fertility Friend but I only have 3 temps as I just started doing BBT. I lvoe the calendar icons. Yes, I got a Positive OPK at 2pm and that night I had lots of EWCM. Im also using Fertility Monitor but that didn't go peak until the 2 days AFTER the positive. Point is I don't think I BD'd enough in May as DH wasnt feeling great. He has meds this month and feels great the last few weeks.
I'm on CD4 now and it looks like the last 3 cycles I had pos OPK 13 days after AF started... = |
| Answer: Clare~ I think the softgels are just the ones that look like vitamin E gel tablets. I am also taking those. Clare do you know you are suppose to stop taking EPO once you have ovulated? This to avoid uterine contractions? I have also heard not to take it longer than 3 months that is what it reads on my jar of EPO. I just started taking it about a week ago myself. Anwyay I am on cd13 did an opk and there was no line at all. ???? What? The last 3 days I had faint lines. I think I may have pee'd on the stick a little too long..could that affect the result? I usually have a fade in pattern. Ah man..my body confuses me. Anyway bd'd again last night...in fact we have bd'd the last 3-4 evenings in a row. Now I am wondering if I I O'd already or early (probably not based on my temps)and I missed it. Crap!! Or maybe it's late..or maybe I don't even O. Anwyay I am doing my best to bd. Hopefully again tonight and tomorrow morning...then that's it for me until Sunday or Monday depending when the dh returns. I feel a little odd today. almost a little crampy..maybe it's from all the bding. My temps are still low..in fact they are hovering around the same numbers for about a week. No sign of "O" from temps..but why the faint lines on the opk. I had ferning last night on my mircroscope. But it says the most accurate reading is first thing in the morning before brushing teeth or drinking or eating. ~~~Perl, just keep watching what you eat. Avoiding the salt is probably a good idea anyway. What week are you now? When is your delivery? BTW you are completely weened from Peter? How did you finally stop? Or do you still give him a nurse here and there? How is your little guy? What kinds of things is he doing these days? I
S he a good eater? Do you have any good meal suggestions..I am always looking for good nutritious snack and meal ideas. ~~Aspen~I too feel a little crampy and I am sure i have not o'd. As far as the ewcm..it varies for me. For instance today (tmi) was a little runny eggwhite. A few days ago it was more mucousy and clear but still stretchy. Yesterday was stretchy!!!!! It is not free flowing everyday..I must check when I wipe. However today is one of those days where you can practically feel it trickling out. (ew) Sorry for the tmi. But like I said it does vary from cycle to cycle. Probably about 5 days or so. And again the cosistency of egg white vaires..but I just look for strectchy one and also the watery one..which is suppose to be very fertile. I think I may have had more with the EPO too this cycle. Krissy~ Belly rubs for you!!!! and Joelle~sorrry for all the blood loss that just sucks..how are you feeling otherwise? Try to go easy on the vicodin if you can? Girls BABYDUST TO US ALL!!!!!!!xo = |
| Answer: Aspen8 - Thanks for the information and I will call my doctor to see if they have a generic form and I will also call Costco to see what they are talking about. I will keep you updated.
Kristin72 - Thank you for the belly rub. How are you doing today? Krissy68 = |
| Answer: Okay, so I have absolutely nothing new to say but I just checked in and saw that our thread had fallen all the way to #5 on the list and I had to fix it. (Think I might be just a tad bit competitive?!?!?!?) = |
| Answer: Joelle, you've been on my mind all day today. How are you feeling? Night all. I only had 3 hours of sleep last night so I'm gonna hit the hay early. Hope you all had a good day. = |
| Answer: hey there, i just realized, sitting here doing bill sthat EPO is evening primrose oil..lol..i do take that but totally missed the acronym..i need a memory pill clearly.
yes kristen i am taking it and will stop after ovulation due to reason you mentioned.
talk to you all soon! = |
| Answer: Clare, I'm sorry. I don't know how I managed to miss your post yesterday. Bad things are happening to my brain these days! And yes, EPO is evening primrose oil. Lol. Temping this month might help you sort things out. As I said, I'm on my 4th cycle and I'm learning new things about my cycles. That combination of a positive OPK and good ewcm is pretty powerful. That pretty much SCREAMS "BD! BD! BD!" at you. Lol. It's great that you're seeing a pattern with your positive OPKs. Just a caution though....resist the temptation to assume that it'll always be that way. If you have an early ovulation month like I did this month you could totally miss your LH surge if you wait to test until day 11, say...because it "always" goes positive on day 13. I have to struggle with that all the time. I'm always looking for the "rules" my body follows and once I think I've found one I want to believe my body never breaks it. LOL. Hopefully, you aren't like me that way. Oh, and those calendar icons are fun, aren't they? Of course, in my case because I can ovulated (I know now) anywhere from day 10 to day 14 I have little eggs on 4 different days and "1st AF day" icons on 4-6 different days. Which actually helps me remember that those icons don't really "predict" what WILL happen, they just give you an idea of all the scenarios that have already happened. Is AF winding down now? = |
