My ds is 3 weeks today and I was wanting to pump so my husband could feed him every now and then, but i read if you do that they could get nipple confusion or something. Does anyone know if its still to early? ↓
i breastfeed my daughter but whilst in hospital they also gave formula milk because she was so big 10lb 12. my daughter had no problems i feel the sooner you introduce a bottle the better as my oldest daughter was breastfed and refused a bottle point blank. ↑
My dd pediatrician said to start the bottle no earlier than 3 weeks because of nipple confusion. Some babies don't have any problems and others do. I gave my dd a bottle at 3 weeks and she took it just fine. She didn't have any problems going back to nursing either. I would suggest that you don't wait too long to start the bottle and that you give him one every day to keep him used to it. I didn't do this and after I gave my dd a few bottles at 3 weeks I didn't try again until 2 months and she refused to take it until about 3 1/2 - 4 months (after a lot if work). ↑
My dd is 10 days old, & I have started pumping already...just once or twice a day, but enough to get a little extra milk saved up. I'll start giving her one or two bottles a day in about a week...right around the 3 week mark. ↑
i think it depends on the baby. the nurses at the hospital made me top the baby off with a littleready to feed enfamill formula when my milk hadn't come in yet ( i think it was also because she was so big, 9 lbs 13 oz)and she was fine switching between the 2, it couldn't hurt to try. ↑
