My dd has been taking 2 bottles a day while I am at work. My dh was on 2nd shift so he was always the one to give it to her. Recently he has changed shifts and we had to take her to a baby sitter and she will have nothing to do with the bottle. She won't take it no matter how long it has been since her last feeding from the sitter or my husband (or me! we even tried to get her brother to get her to take it) My question is, is she just upset because of the sudden change? She has only been watched by my mom for a few hours since she was born (she is almost 8 months) Is she old enough to try to take it from a sippy cup of some sort? Do you think that will make her wean to soon (going to try to bf until 10months) or should we just try every day until she eventually takes it again? I have all this saved up breast milk and it's going to waste! Any advice please? Thank you! ↓

my son is breast fed, and never took a bottle. After months and months of frustration, he finally will take a sippy cup with a straw. BF babies are really good with straws. I gave him a juice box one day at a play group when he was 9 months old, squeezed the box a bit so some juice got into his mouth, and he pretty much took it from there. I would try a straw with your dd, and see how it goes ↑

I gave my dd a sippy cup with meals from 4 months on. So its not too early to at least try sippy cups. My dd refused bottles after 7 months and any sort of milk out of sippys (bm or formula) so I continued bf. I did try to wean after 9 months as I found out I was pregnant but like I said she refused and actually weaned herself a week after she turned 1. I had just gotten used to the idea of tandem nursing too. I was going to wean as I wanted a little freedom between babies. ↑

My DS started with a sitter at 6 mos for a couple of days a week. He refused to take a bottle, even though he'd taken the odd one with DH before. We just moved him straight to a sippy cup and also some solids. He still nursed like crazy at home ↑

Thanks for you responses ladies! I took her to the dr. the day I posted this and found out that she had a UTI. After a few days of taking meds she started taking the bottle again from dad, but she hasn't been back to the sitters yet so I don't know if she will take it from her. I started the sippy cup and she isn't to keen on it yet, but still trying :) ↑
