When on earth will be the 'right' time to test?

Forgive me if I sound daft, but am hoping someone will be able to help me here. My husband and I have been trying to concieve for 10 months. My periods tend to be somewhat irregular but seemed to have been more regular recently. Then last month period started on 18th Jun and lasted 10 days. We have had unprotected sex on most days in July. And on Saturday 12th, there was a light pink tiny bleed which it occured to me could be implantation bleeding. Since then have been keeping fingers crossed and testing with early morning urine virtually everyday. So far all tests are negative. I know I have been testing far too early but today is the 21st and I had kind of hoped that a test would be showing positive by now if I was pregnant. Have been feeling nauseous, gobsmackingly tired and keep getting nosebleeds. Does anyone have any thoughts? I am not wholly convinced re whether or not period is late as am often quite irregular anyway. Ideally I want to know when I can test and think there is a good chance of knowing the result is reliable and not 'too early'. Help?

How long is your average cycle? I would test as soon as the day you expect your period (just so you don't waste money, those HPT's are expensive). Your symptoms certainly sound promising, good luck.

Thanks guys. Am using first urine of the morning. Still no positive, but still no period. I can't believe I am getting so worked up about this. But I have never been known for being terribly patient I guess so will just have nto try and learn to be...
