I had a miscarriage back in July of 2007. W/ this pregnancy, I got a dark + at 6.5wks [my first test taken]. At 8wk5dys, my hCg level was 4600. The next day, 8wks6days, it was 4198. Miscarriage. So, I know I'm very well capable of producing hCg.
I'm 9 days late on my period. LMP was 6|11|08. My periods are irregular [33days], so the day of my estimated arrival of AF [7|14], I would be [if I am] 6wks. I took two EPT's about 2wks ago & both negative. Went to the last Thurs - had bloodwork done. Negative.
But my question is: Since I know I can produce the hormone, as I did in my previous pregnancy, if I were pregnant now [6wks], wouldn't the hormone be more than obvious [show up on tests]? Or do hCg sprouts vary w/ each pregnancy?
Since my first negative HPT, I've been convinced I'm not preggers, so the fact that my period is still not here, is shocking. Plus, I've noticed frequent urination. I'd be happy w/ a + or -. I'm not hoping for one or the other tho. Just an answer, ya know?
Thanks in advance! ↓
The hcg is a product of pregnancy actually taking place not a matter of whether or not you can produce it after you get pregnant. So if an embryo implanted in your uterus, hcg would then be given off by the cells. And yes, there are large ranges of the appropriate amount of hcg at different gestations, but at 6 wks, it should still be more than enough to make a pos on a test. So if you're 2 wks late, have neg preg tests maybe something else is happening. Maybe just a weird cycle? Maybe call your dr. Hope that helps! ↑
