Fetal growth impairment, low and decreased birth weight, Sudden Infant Dealth Syndrome, miscarriage, and SO much more!
Why expose yourself to that? And more importantly, why would your boyfriend and his friends not respect the fact that you are preggo and smoke way away from you!!!

ask your boyfriend and his friends to kindly not smoke around you and your unborn child. it could cause SOO Many different problems and second hand smoke is worse that actually smoking the cig. yourself because ur not getting it after its been through the filter !
good luck and congrats on your pregnancy

as i said in my other post, i'm pretty sure you're not pregnant, but considering your boyfriend told you if you are pregnant to get an abortion, who cares what he thinks? get rid of him.

I have to agree with Teddyfinch. He doesn't sound worth the effort of having a long term relationship.... if he wants an abortion, he probably won't want marriage and children anytime soon. THat being said... My Mom smoked and drank with me and my worse problems are depression and allergies. My father's family have bad allergies and my mother's family have depression. There is no way of telling if the smoking and drinking contributed or not. I was only 6lbs however. They didn't know better back then. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and preggo with the 2nd. I couldn't quit smoking with the first, but went from 2 packs a day to maybe 10 if I was emotional that day, some days had none. She has VSD which is a small hole in her heart. 4 members of my family have this and all parents were smokers. Hubby has it as well and nobody in his family smokes except him. I'm not doing too well on the smoking this time around. I'm 4 months and still having problems keeping the smoking at 5 cigs a day. Doc is more worried about me keeping my weight up and working at a bar with the 2nd hand smoke. I work 2-3 days a week and he is worried because Saturday is busy, lots of smokers and I'm there longer that night. I've been really lucky with my dd and no health problems(oh, she was almost 8lbs and 1 day past due date). Since you don't smoke, I'd say to do your best to not be in the same room as the smokers. If they won't go outside, take a walk or run errands. It will limit your fights if you stay with your boyfriend and limit the 2nd hand smoke.

The things that say smoking causes health problems usually only say most, not a percentage. I think a lot of it is because some babies have SERIOUS problems so you have to be aware that those problems are very possible. Everyone has to make decisions about their pregnancy based on personal preference, or in my case, addiction and more harm to take meds to quit smoking than just limiting my smoking and having the vents on at work.
