The Shadow Sory Long Post

There is this girl I know from college who has been shadowing me ever since she got hired into my company. Since then she has held every position that I once had within the company and now it seems she has designs on my current position as well. She runs in the same circle as my boss’ friends (my boss’ is young and has some friends in low positions). Recently, my boss has been giving her pet projects to do. The girl has a boss of her own, can’t even bother to remember the boss’ name. The “shadow” is constantly trying to use her former friendship with me to get more insight into my position. I try to keep her at arms length and it comes across as if I’m being territorial. So, I’m about to go on maternity leave and know that they will want me to train the “shadow” to do my job. I’m toying with the idea of just working from home, but don’t know if that is even a good idea. I wanted to get some advice from mothers who have been there. Will I be able to mother my child and also work during my maternity leave and still keep my sanity? I’m not concerned I’ll lose my job, just the type of job I love to do and got a degree and worked my butt off night and day for. Thanks!

Wow that is terrible! I would not work during your maternity leave if you can help it. That is supposed to be your time with your baby. I am sure that you do an amazing job in your position and that is why your shadow is always one step behind you. As long as you rea__sure your boss you will be back and ready to take the position back once your maternity leave is over, I would hope you wouldn't have any issues. Good luck Brandidcfv
