Breast Implants And Breastfeeding

Hello ladies! I am 33 weeks pregnant and plan on br___tfeeding my baby. I have 2 children already (12 and 6 yrs and did not br___tfeed either of them). Since my second baby I have had br___t implants. I have read up on it and they say it is okay and does not effect your milk productionand that it is safe for the baby. My incision is under my br___t...not around my nipple. My concern is that my implants are OVER the muscle, not under. Everything I read says br___tfeeding is not a problem b/c the implants are placed under the muscle. Does anyone know anything about this? Any advice/imput would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Kerry126, I have implants and I b___stfeed fine with them. Mine are under the muscle and have a ton of milk supply. As long as your dr didn't cut through your milk ducts you should be fine. My sil got b___st implants and the dr cut her milk ducts so now she can't bf ever......but I'm sure the dr would of told you this if it happened. You should be fine, though. Oh, and over the muscle I'm not too sure about......but I've heard there are no problems with that either.

I have an aunt that had b___st implants, over the muscle, and then went on to have 2 more children, both of which she b___stfed until over 1 year old. She produced plenty of milk, had no problems whatsoever with b___stfeeding. But like Dani said, if they cut your milk ducts during the operation, you won't be able to.

Thanks! This may be a silly question, but the are the milk ducts located at the bottom ( in the under side fold of your bread), around your areola or throughout your entire b___st? My doc. didn't say anything to me about it. Hopefully all will be fine, I'm just getting nervous.

They are over the whole b___st. I have read that the ducts can actually heal themselves! So even if they were cut there is a good chance you can still bf.

They are behind the nipple going backwards towards your rib cage, if that makes any sense. I got a book in my childbirth cla__s at the hospital that has drawings of the b___sts/milk glands and all that in the b___stfeeding section. Also, in my childcare book by Dr. Sears there are some diagrams...there may be some books at your local book store or library that would have diagrams that would show you where everything is located. You might discuss the whole issue with your dr. if you haven't, and if they offer a b___stfeeding cla__s at the hospital you are going to deliver at, I highly recommend taking it...I know the cla__ses aren't for everybody, but I was really nervous about b___stfeeding, and now that I took the cla__s I understand it a lot better and feel a lot more prepared, so I am not as nervous. Good luck!!

Hi, I have implants under the muscle and am now b___st feeding. The only problem I have had is my nipples have been extra sensitive since the sugery and I have to use a nipple sheild because I got sores on my nipples and I was in so much pain.

Well, I've also read about possibility and even safety of breastfeeding with implants. But I don't know nothing about these details. I think it is better to consult a surgeon and a gynecologist. Also there was a really good article on MotherHow called "Cam you breastfeed with implants". Maybe it will be helpful!
