I heard the other day that in 2009 in the US, women who have babies are going to be able to get $250 a week for up to 5 weeks for maternity pay from the government. It figures. My June baby is the last one for me! No paid maternity for me!

I thought women in the US ALWAYS got paid maternity leave from the government called. . . Disability? 6 weeks for v____al birth and 8 weeks for c section. If your job doesn't pay you during your maternity leave than the state will but they will only give you a fraction of your monthly income. $250 a week MAX! It sucks. . .

fay84 but i just have to say this but thoughs who want to stay at home and look after there children they have to recieve some sort of income while threr other half goes to work .it does not mean there not ready to have children.i was not going to say nothing but i thought about it .and said stuff it .but can ask ifyou and your husband work in which i a__sume you do from what you said do have a nanny to to look after your kids.some mothers like to stay home with there children until there old enough to go to day care cause i believe a childs first few years should be with there parents .not with some one else then we should consider going back to work.IM SORRY BUT I FOUND THAT OFFENSIVE.

Women in the US don't get paid from the government for maternity leave. If you have a job that offers disability then you can get paid through that, however the government doesn't pay anything as of yet.

Faye wasn't trying to be offensive. In America we aren't provided with that luxury. . . If we want to be stay at home moms our government doesn't care. We are jus out of an income. That's how it goes here. Husband better have a pretty good job in America if the wife wants to stay home for a long period of time.
