Fast Rising But Very Low Hcg

I'm new here but after days and days of googling I decided to see if anyone else can relate to my strange story! Here goes:
LMP was March 3. On March 17 my husband and I had an 'accident' so on March 18 I took the ECP (I have an almost two-year-old and we weren't really keen for another baby until next year).
Fast forward to April 2 when I hadn't had a proper period (only brown spotting for a few days) and a pregnancy test showed a line. Subsequent tests showed the lines getting darker, then lighter, and now pretty dark - but very very slowly. The First Response takes a full five minutes to develop.
HCG April 3 - 20
HCG April 5 - 61
HCG April 7 - 170
Now the only time we had sex that month was the 17th so I know the exact dates (I'm 4 weeks 6 days today, April 7) and I know those numbers for doubling pretty fast but they seem very low?
Yesterday I had a bleed which completely stopped after about an hour. I don't have any other symptoms at all (although I didn't with my daughter my entire first trimester!).
I asked the doctor if the ECP could have screwed up my ovulation, he said no. But even if it did, the last day would mean I would be 15 DPO with 170 hcg which STILL seems low?
My first ultrasound isn't for 11 days. I hate waiting. I can't work or eat or play with my daughter because it's ALL I can think about! Anyone else have a similar experience?
