First question is...Is the linea alba a sure sign of pregnancy? and second...when is the normal time for it to appear as the faded or white line? I know that it gets darker in the second trimester...

Wikipedia suggests that the Linea Alba may be seen at any time, and is not a sign of pregnancy. Linea Nigra is probably hormone related and most frequently is noticed in the second trimester. Some women see it earlier - perhaps sitting in the bathtub with a wet belly. Good luck!

Other sites have said everyone has it but it cant be seen cause it is the same shade as your skin. I've read that it mainly shows during pregnancy cause of something called melanin or something like that...and the only time it shows on men is when they're crazy muscular...like the ones that do the muscle shows...I was just wondering though cause I have one...but I havent tested positive at all...My cycle is on day 35...and it came on day 36 last month (week late), so I dont know if it's going to be late again or not show at all...I've never been this late my whole life...and it's never been late back to back months...the latest I've been is by a couple days...

As Ready said everyone already has the 'line' but you usually don't notice it until your preg. I am currently 12wks preg with #3 & NEVER got the 'line' with dd or ds. I was a little disappointed not to get one as all my friends did, so am kinda hoping to this time. I am fairly pale skinned so I don't know if that is why mine isn't noticeable & never darkened when I was preg. I guess as with anything else hormone related, different people will experience different symptoms.

E586467-I really think that is why you haven't seen yours. It's usually seen in fair to darker complected women. A lot of pale women have commented on various other sites that they never seen theirs. On the other hand...it just might not show because of genetics...You never know. As they say, all women are different.
