Ultrasound Accuracy

I’ve read lots of different answers to how accurate ultrasound are in the first trimester. How accurate are they at 8 weeks? And when they say 3-4 days out either way what does that mean exactly? The conception date can be 3-4 days out or the size of the baby? If it’s from lmp how could your baby measure bigger then when your period started?

Eight weeks pregnant refers to theoretical last period, but the ovulation was six weeks ago. Sex fr five days before to one day after ovulation can result in pregnancy. At eight weeks I expect the accuracy to be within a couple of days.

If you give them the wrong lmp date will they be able to tell?

The ultrasound looks at the size of the embryo since conception and adds two weeks to come up with theoretical  lmp and weeks pregnant. They don’t care what you say about lmp. If it does not agree with their estimate, they assume you were having an irregular cycle.

So if baby measured 8 weeks from conception they would say gestation is 10 weeks?
