Hi. I went into premature labor dec 28 2005 and lost my daughter. I was 22 weeks along. I was told by my doctor at my 6 week p/p appt that i had severe chorioamnionitis. Has anyone had this infection and if you did, did it affect your fertility? my and the hubby are trying again but i am so scared. I did my research on this infection, but can't find out if it affects fertility. any answers would be appreciated...

From what I have read, it doesn't usually affect your fertility but you will probably be closely monitored during your next pregnancy (which will be a relief). I know that you are scared. I lost my dd at 36 weeks to an umbilical cord accident and was scared to death to have another thinking the same thing could happen. I now have beautiful twins after a problem free pregnancy.

Hey Patreasa...first I'll like to say I am very sorry for your loss. I too went into premature labor Sept 13, 2005 and lost my son. The cause was chorioamnionitis. I was 23 week along. My husband and I got a bittersweet gift for christmas..we found out I am pregnant. I am 14 weeks right now and I am scared to death that I will get it again. As for fertility I can't say I had any problems. I totally understand your thoughts and concerns. I too had then and still do. Just take your time.

Thank you ladies for answering. i am so scared to get pregnant again, because of what happened, but from what i read, it only happens in 1% of all pregnancies, so hopefully it won't happen again. Congrats on your pregnancy Cervinup, and i hope everything goes well with you and baby. Onetwothree, I'm so glad to hear you were able to give birth to healthy babies after your loss. Thank you again ladies for your advice.

I lost my pregnancy at 23 weeks. a week prior to the loss I had increased mucous dicscharge that could not stop. later the mucous became stained with blood. I went to the hospital and the doctor said it was probably an irritation. two days later I had massive bleeding. rushed to the hospital ;reaching there I had an open cervix with bulging membranes. nothing could be done to save the baby. the doctor said It was IC. but now I think it was due to an infection as one week prior my urine tests showed existence of yeast and pus cells. I also had lower abdominal pains on the cervix which I thought was due to baby kicks but now I know it was due to the infection.
