Just checkin in....Melissa, Glad to see your test came back great. I had asked the question re: the triple screen...the 1st tri test, tests for the chromosomal abnormalities, which you had already..the trip does the same thing. NOW, all you need is the AFP that tests for spina bifida, etc(neural tube defects) All is well here, almost 21 weeks and all is well. phew! So far so good...still saying prayers though!

Thanks for the new thread.Coda! So funny you said that about ROgue as Teddy seemsto scoot around on his back by pushing off with his feet so that he moves al over.PLus he arches his back and twists - I keep calling him Mr.WIggles and saying that he is going to wlka before he crawls or finally rolls ove, lol.But on Saturday he rolled over for the 1st time in his crib which had me ecstatic of course. ALthough h edid it so quickly and so well thta I can't help but wonder if he has already done it for his babysitter who said she wasn't going to tell me when he does it because she didn'tant to ruin the surprise of me seeing it myself first. I have to ask her tomorrow. She promised to write it down and tell me after i already saw him.

Hi Ladies - Well, we met with our first potential childcare provider on Sunday. Very nice girl - probably my age - lives only 2 blocks away from us. Everything was going wonderfully until the end when she informed us that they recently got two kittens. She claims that they keep them in the finished bas____nt exclusively right now but is not sure what they will do when they get bigger. Well, that blew it for me. I am terribly allergic to cats and just can not stand the thought of my baby being in a cat house. No offense to any cat lovers/owners out there.....I mean even if they keep them in the bas____nt away from the kids - cat hair and dander is everywhere. In the air, on the families clothes -- No Way.....I have visions of the cat sneaking upstairs and sitting in my carseat or my baby crawling around on a floor covered in hair. So So So diappointing :-( I finally have a meeting with my boss and her boss this Thursday and will hopefully have an answer regarding going part time after my leave. Not until then will I start calling other providers. Oh, why did they have to go and get cats? DRATS. Dawn

CODA -- I grew up with a Mini-Schnauzer dog and enjoyed that but overall I am just not a pet person anymore. DH does not like dogs and I am allergic to cats. I prefer not to get shots or take drugs for such things (plus I would never want a cat anyway) so we are pet free except for my two stuffed dogs Humphrey & Pepper. I just dont want to bring baby someplace with a cat and then feel like I have to strips them of their clothes and bath him or her everyday to keep the cat gunk out of our house....I wish I could just stay home and watch baby - DH does not want me to have no job though as he does not feel secure in his and does not like it. We could afford for me to quit -- make it work -- but I see his point. Plus we handle $$$ very differently and I could not handle having none of my own money coming in. Lots going on right now with everything - DH is being kind of a dink to me lately and that is really bugging me. I dont need that right now. Dawn

Dawn - I want to keep working, the $$$ is too good to pa__s up. I will have 3 months paid leave, than another month of vacation. I don't know what will happen though. My job requires very heavy travel. I guess I will push back on the travel but after a short bit I guess I fall out of my job description and then that is grounds for dismissal. I am PRAYING they offer some sort of work from home deal for the first few months so I can decide later. I do plan to either bring in home care or to use our day care up the street. As much as I will love our baby, I do want to keep up my other interests as well - this will be a hard time I imagine, you know, whether to stay home or not. Pros and cons with both. I really want the in home care with me working from home - best of both worlds.

i love all pets back in scotland is my white german shepared levi (dont like ankle bitters) and i also had bengal cross cats and a snake called coda (since died) i think i had the hole range of pets cos my mum was very anti them lol. as for staying at home i am a social care worker by trade so why would i pay someone else to look after my kid /kids then me go out and look after other ppl crazy? i understand the high powered carer women thou u lot have worked hard to be wear u are i am still only 23 so when my babies are older i can pick my job back up as i am still young enough to do that or change carer thought about switching to midwifery but it will always be in the care proffestion cos thats what i do its what i love to do. on the $$$ front troy was an accountant in sydney the money was excallent but we never saw each other and he hardly saw rogue so we changed our life style to suit our family needs we had savings bought a house troy is now doing his masters then hopes to be a lectura next yr .

I never really understod the whole dogs vs. cats thing -I like them both. Used to be more for dogs but over the years I now prefer cats - they are way lower maintenance and mine have alwyas been affectionate and lovable. I had to laugh at you Coda with the ankle biter comment as even when I was more for dogs I felt the same way -always had a strong urge to kick those yippy litltle suckers, especially poodles. Melissa- I had an amnio if you remember and all was easy and fine. No issues although I did e-mail Daniella in the middle of the night freaking out over imaginary issues because I am a paranoid nutcase (remember, Danielle?). We got lucky with daycare bevause I didn't look util Teddy was almost here and the first person we interviewed (other than the daycare centers) had excellent references and we just hit it off with a good strong hunch that she would be great and she is.SHe even calls when he has been sick and when he had his tests to see how he was doing. I was nervous when she first said she had a dog beause it was a huge lab but the references said the dog was awesome and then when I met him he was very lolvable and well behaved and Teddy seems to really like him.Plus her house is immaculate -you would never knowan animal lived there. DH would love to get a lab but our house is so small that it will have to wait until we have a bigger place which is fine with me as I hate the upkeep with dogs much as I love them. also have two geckos which are great pets -no walking, litter box or and no shedding,ha, ha! The worst thing is that they eat live crickets and once dh bought crickets that were too mature and they croaked so much one weekend that i swear I thought I was living in a d__ned meadow. LOL. Coda -dh is like you - he and his brother and his dad owned a pet store when he was about your age and he has all these crazy stories -my favorite is when the boa got free and they were missing some hamsters and a few mice and I think a parakeet. ALso when the baby croc got loose and he was swatting it with a broom and this poor woman nearly had a heart attack. Dawn - it is actualy probably best that you avoid someone with pets if you are so allergic because in addition to having to strip the baby each time (and you will have todo that enough without the pet dander), it could turn out that the baby could have your allergies and then you would have to find a new babysitter at the last minute. Better to play it safe.

Coda -by lecturer do you mean like a profressor at a university or someone who lectures on a topic as a consultant?

coda - March 27

lol helen like a nutty old proffesor who lectures accountaing lol how boaring hehe well he seems to be really enjoying doing his masters he is also tutoring some nights to get some extra cash so we are not eating into our savings too much. yeah dawn best to stay clear of anything that gives u alligies as u cant take nothing for it i have to just suffer with my hayfever and it gets pritty bad all i can do is sqush salt water up my nose lol the sacrafices we make lol on other news i have lost another kg i am like the incredable shrinking women dont know if its cos rogue has gone back to having a darn feed in the night or what at this rate i will be back to what i was 3 yrs ago lol only 6ks to go i am already 5 and a bit kg under my pre pregnancy wight so b___st really is best! in saying that i have been doing alot of dog walking as i am board and a bought a bike with a wee seat on the back for rogue get that on sat and i bought a wet suit for winter body boarding so i am a hell of alot more active again :)

Thanks ladies for reinforcing my first thought. That Baby will not be cared for at a cat house.....Such a bummer cuz I really liked this girl & the convenience. Tomorrow is my meeting with my boss - hopefully she will have an answer for me as to whether I can go down to 4 days a week or not. Then I can start calling other providers to set up meetings. This is going to be the worst part of this process. I had such a great feeling about that girl in my neighborhood and the cat thing blew it. MELISSA - I wish the money I make was too good to pa__s up. It is not great but it pays for my Acura which I still have two yrs of payments. I am also paying off our new livingroom furniture. I am trying to convince DH to pay off my car so I can lease a vehicle with a smaller car payment. He has a pickup truck now which obviously has to go but he is not sold on driving a car. Might need a small SUV or him. Lots of things to take care of before this baby arrives. MELISSA -- Glad things are going along well for you. YOu are right, doing the quad test can not hurt anything. I am just surprised they are doing it - all you really need now is AFP. Anyway, this baby is giong to be fine for you - I just know it. Heartrate of 130 is lower then I have been getting but compare that to what ours are and it is high. My last appt the HR was 152 BPM -- I think my baby moves around allot though so that could explain it. if your baby is not as active then that is why the lower HR. Nothing to worry about :-) Have you decided when you will tell people? After the amnio? Dawn

Wow - oneof my senior management approached me today and in a nutshell saud "we want you back in January, we'll work with you to keep your travel light and keep you working from home." I did not even prompt the discussion! Anyone feel a little bit like they have the upper hand in these negotiations? I have 2 girlfriends who were ffered qwork from home deals with full pay. Only one has in home care - the other does it herself which must be insane (twin infants and a 3 year old). Dawn_any word from your management yet?

LeraeAllyn - March 29

MELISSA - That is fantastic. You must be so relieved and are very lucky that is going to fall into place so well for you. I am meeting with my boss and her boss today at 3pm to discuss my fate at work. I have NO IDEA if they will be offering me something, if it will just be a discussion, if they will be telling me flat out NO, you can not work part time or what. I have been waiting for this meeting for over two weeks and it is just eating away at me until I get in that room. My boss can be a big pain and downer allot of the time. She said she would work with me but who knows. I hope to have an answer on what they will do for me today. I will keep you all posted. Dawn

I don't trust anyone until it actualy happens ;) You never know if they are keeping me happy this week for some personal motivation :)
