Smoking in Pregnancy May Affect Male Fertility, Study Suggest
A new study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism shows new insight on how smoking affects the fertility of unborn boys. Previous studies found women who smoked during pregnancy exposed their unborn sons to a higher risk of developing smaller penises and or smaller testicles, which may not fully descend. Similarly, the new study conducted by researchers at Aberdeen University shows evidence that the chemicals in cigarette smoke may affect a key gene involved in the development of testis in unborn boys.

Binge Drinking Before You Found Out You're Pregnant?
A new study appearing in next month's issue of the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health shows that although drinking regularly during pregnancy can seriously harm the fetus, a single incident of binge drinking may not adversely affect the fetus. Authors of this study do not suggest in anyway that it's safe for women to drink while pregnant. However, the study suggests there isn't enough data collected to say if or not a little amount of alcohol is safe during pregnancy. The study found women who binged drank, that is having 5 or more drinks in one sitting, before they knew they were pregnant, did not seem to harm the unborn baby. Dr. Men-Jean Lee, one of the directors of research at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, said women who did do this before finding out they were pregnant, don't need to worry about having an abortion because of birth defects.
