Pregnancy Risk Factors

Luckily, there are some pregnancy risks factors that women can avoid in order to increase the chances of having a healthy pregnancy and child. Indeed, exposure to toxins such as cigarettes and alcohol is likely to affect both the mother as well as the baby's health, the consequences of which may have lasting effects in the future.  There are also certain foods to avoid when pregnant to ensure a healthy and safe delivery of your baby. Ultrasounds and blood tests during pregnancy can also help to keep an eye on your baby's development and watch for any signs of pregnancy complications.  Many complications can be handled early on before they develop into serious problems for you or your baby.  Be sure to have regular check ups with your doctor throughout your pregnancy.

Pregnancy Complications

Even if a mother avoids exposure to potentially dangerous substances, other unexpected pregnancy complications

may arise. Knowing some of the signs and symptoms of these pregnancy concerns can help ensure early diagnosis and treatment of these potentially harmful conditions.  Also, be sure to get regular check ups during your pregnancy so that your doctor can watch for signs of common pregnancy complications like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, or a low birth weight baby.

Pregnancy complications not only affect the mother's health but may impact the health of her child. Our complications with baby section provides a useful guide for parents concerned with medical conditions that may affect their newborn baby.  Learn more about how to keep your baby safe.

STDS and Pregnancy

I am a 45 year old man, who didn't think he could have children until my new wife became pregnant with my first, and her sixth child. Our first attempt ended in a miscarriage, but we are pregnant again, and I am over-joyed! We are now through the first trimester, and physically all is good. However, about 5 weeks ago the woman I am so madly in love with, started to act distant. I have 4 teenage step daughters that live with us and I thought we had a great relationship. Three weeks ago my wife informed me that the girls didn't like living with me because I complained too much about them drinking too many sodas? She informed me that new family are moving out to their old house next door ( I married my neighbor). I have since talked to the girls and discovered they don't want to leave, its all my wife. She used to worship the ground I walked on, now she will barely speak to me. I spoke with her mom, and she reassures me that this is normal for her and she did it during her previous pregnancies. I can take a lot of abuse, and can put with almost anything for a limited amount of time, but I am afraid the woman I love is gone forever! She lost a 2 month old infant to SIDS two years ago, so I think fear/depression may alsobe fueling the changes in her personality. I have read a lot on the internet about hormones and mood swings. I am willing to do anything to get the awesome person back I married. She used to tell me that she loved my guts, now she is visibly uncomfortable when I am in the room. What should I do, and will she ever be like she was before. Thanks Dennis freaking out in Louisiana.

I'm between 3-6 weeks pregnant. Dr isn't sure how far I am, I'm not either, had my tubes tied I. 2015, had my right tube removed in May 2017, and reason to that, I had an ectopic pregnancy terminated as well as the tubal removal. Now I'm pregnant again not long after the surgery. I had my hcg level checked on Sunday, it was 94.6 and tonight it showed 76.53, I'm scared!!!
