I am currently 20 years old, 34 weeks pregnant, and enrolled full-time for online classes at Oklahoma City Community College. Currently, I am still considered a dependent student until I have the baby, has anyone gone through this process, changing from dependent to independent student in the middle of the semester? I am on unemployment right now, I got fired for what was said to be misconduct, but they really had no reason except that I was pregnant. I don't have money for books at the moment, and I'm only eligible for stafford loans until I have the baby. I thought I could go ahead and get the loans and then pay them back when I get Pell Grants, a financial aid employee told me I would get some, but when I asked her how much she jsut said "alot", which I assume she meant enough to cover school, I don't know. However, any info on the situation would be most appreciated. Thanks:)

I am at college just about 2 start my 3rd year of my degree. I gave birth 6 weeks ago and now im gettin ready 2 go back. Please dont worry about money. You will get all sorts of help. U will get child ben, Family tax and as your not working income support. But these are when the baby is here. You can apply for a sure start grant, you can get that now and you can get right up to £500 which would tied you over. Go to your local job centre for an application form. it doesnt take long to fill in, all you need is your midwife to fill some in to cofrim your pregnancy. its as easy as that. Dont delay, Its money with your name on. I did it and cot the full amount which helped buy a fab cot bed. good luck
