Having A Hard Time At My Job

I work at a place where I have to stand all day...we only have two 15 min breaks no matter what shift we work. I'm normally scheduled for 6 and 7 hr shifts, but now, I'm being schedule for 7 and 8 hr shifts. Its starting to get hard on my back and feet...and my manager doesnt understand these things, and there's no way we can afford to have me go on leave this early, but I know its just going to get harder, my mom had to have surgery on her back because she worked standing all day until her 8th month...I really don't know what to do...

Rachel, see if your doctor can write a note to your employer stating that you need "x" amount of time for breaks, so you can get off your feet. Look at this from another other angle, too. If for other medical reasons, you needed extra breaks to perform your work without incident, then you should be able to get those breaks (provided they don't grossly interfere with your work, in which case, your doctor would require you to take time away from your job). Besides, pregnancy isn't a forever condition, so this momentary accomodation shouldn't be such an issue with your employer, not to mention it makes him/her look like a jerk if they can't understand the importance of acting in a humane manner.
