at the company i work at in missouri, i get 10 weeks maternity leave at 60% pay, but I have been here 5 years. If I was here between 3 and 5 years I would have only gotten 7 weeks at 60% pay. But my friend that works at another company in the city i live in, only gets 6 weeks of maternity leave and she doesn't get paid anything for it. I would check with your HR department, it not only differs depending on what state/city you live in, but it even differs from company to company.

Jen is wrong and paid leave isn't just in California. Each company and state is different. Check with your HR department and see what they say.

Paid Family Leave -- Paid by the state to the individual is only in CA. A company can come up with it's own policy and if you are in a union or just in a good position, you can negotiate your leave. CA paid leave is the first law of it's type to pa__s in the country. It has only been in effect for a year.

Ilene,
If you pay into SDI, you can get paid leave but not at the same time as unemployment. Paid Leave is 55% of your salary for 6 weeks after the birth or adoption of a baby for bonding.
Contact EDD (Employment Development Department) to see if you qualify.
