My husband and I had a plan that I would stick it out where I work right now until after I have a baby. We have been ttc to conceive for about 1 year now, and work is getting worse and I desperately want to make a career move. I don't know if I should try and stick it out until I finally do get pregnant, or just put ttc on hold for while until I find a different job and establish myself elsewhere. I'm afraid that ttc will take alot longer than we anticipated, and I'll be stuck here for a very long time. Any advice? Anyone ever been in a similar situation? I don't want to find a different job and still try and end up getting pregnant right away. That would look really bad on my part, and I can't afford to be off of work or fired.

I was in a much similiar situation. We were trying for 3 years and I had almost given up so for about 6 months I was interviewing. Ironically, the exact day I received an offer for my dream job, was the same day I found out I was pregnant. It really is a call you are going to have to make (luck of the draw basically). If you go to a new job and get pregnant before 1 year, depending on what state you are in, your job may not be secure if you go on leave. I would check your state employment laws to see how long you have to be at a job in order to qualify for a medical leave and then determine from there if you want to put off trying to have a baby that long as well.
