Unhealthful Conditions

I am in customer service. There is work being done in our ceiling, and there are fumes/orders coming thru the vents. I refuse to work in my area and I was told that there is no available work for me out of my area and both my supervisor and human resources suggested I go home, without pay. I'm not sure what I should do?

not sure if its the same everywere but if the area or situation proves a risk to you and/or the babys health they should try and relocate you if they cant they should send you home paid till the area is safe.ave you got a book about policies and procedures for your work place?

Check with your state's employment laws, there should be something about unsafe work environments and compensation. Your boss should even have this posted in the lounge or breakroom, if he doesn't, you need to bring it to his attention.

Tell them that you want the air levels checked or thatyour going to call OSHA. You should never have to work in an area that you don't feel safe in, especially if you are pregnant!
