Has anyone taken a course from them like Medical Billing Specialist and been able to get a job handling insurance claims at working from home, or something like that?

Dont! It costs ALOT of money and really isnt worth it. I had a friend who took it and pretty much got ripped off.

My wife did this program and works for a physical therapist making some pretty decent money doing it. She thouroghly explored the background of this company and found it reputable. I'd say she would recommend it. She is bringing home half of our income

I am enrolled in a local college in the RHIT (reg. health info. tech.)program. The accrediting body in this profession is AHIMA in Chicago. In order to do ANYTHING in coding, med. billing, you really should pa__s their test. They have an online course which is relatively cheap. I don't know "At Home" but, i looked at their website and did not see them as being an accredited program thru AHIMA. Also, I have attended other "FREE" seminars at hotels and usually they try to rope you into an EXPENSIVE course. Just sharing my experiences.

i went to one of their seminars and it does cost a lot, like 2200 bucks, but they back you for life in whatever you need help with and they are an accredited business. the only thing stopping me from doing it is the money!!

I am doing medical transcription through them right now and I'm not sure where people are getting that www.at-homeprofessions.com is expensive because they are one of the cheapest and they are very much accredited. A friend of the family started out making $35K/year. This course I am taking is $830 but I got a $100 discount and a free book and when I finish they will send me $40 for getting A's on my first 4 a__signments. I pay $50/months, that's it. For an education that is dependable, you can't beat it.

I am an inpatient coder at a large hospital and we work out of our homes...coding is a really good field to go into and since most hospital medical records are online now you can work from your home...check out you local city college for the RHIT program...or you can go to AAPC.com which is another coder credential...

Heavenly - December 9

Jena and Carah, do you take the courses at home as well? How long are the courses?

For an education, sure - jena - do they guarentee you a job when you finish? You can only get so far with the education - you have to find employment for it to really work and be worth all that money.

I am currently on the last course in At Home Professions medical transcription course and am very pleased with it. The instructors are most helpful and compared to our local colleges the course was reasonable. I am enjoying the course very much and in my area medical transcription is currently in demand.

I am taking a course right now. my sister took one before and did find a med transcription job.

Anderia - January 31

I am also wondering about doing this too. My question is how hard is it to get a job!

Any school that says they guarantee you employment is yanking your chain! LOL!! I am also study MT with AHP, but I don't expect them to find me a job. I do, however, expect them to teach me the *tools* I need to find one. The rest is up to me.

Gla__syDebbie - April 19

Oops. That should have been, "I am also studying MT..." Sheesh. Guess you can tell I have a ways to go! ,g.

I started taking this exact same cla__s back in the summer/fall while I was pregnant. I have I think maybe 3 more lessons to go before I finish. I have not been able to find the time to just finish it and it's driving me crazy. My husband has been nagging me about it too. My daughter is almost 9 months old now and just so demanding that it's hard. I have 100% in the cla__s and I totally get it but those last few chapters are so time consuming. With a baby who eats paper it makes studying tricky. lol Has anyone finished and found a job. I'd like to believe if I ever get this done I will find a job pretty easily.
