i say 2 school years apart (my sister and i were 3, which was bad til we got older and the age gap closed a little) he says 1 school year cause his bro and sis are and have always been best friends but i think its too much to have kids only 16 or 18months apart especially when they are babies. any opinions?

i also think it might be ok to have the first 2 close together then wait a few years and have the next 2 close together possibly. i'm not as sure about that one i just know i don't want all my kids 5 or 10years apart you know

My first and second babies are 1 day short of 13 months apart, and they get along so good, and its so much easier to do things with them cuz they like the same things. They are hitting some of the milestones together. Im now pregnant with my 3rd and my second will be 21 months older than her. I think its easier to get it all over with at once rather than potty train one and then 2 years later another one. Thats my opinion and not everyone can handle kids that close in age. Im only 22 and my husband is 46 and its easy for us.

I dont think its always true that siblings will be close just because they are close in age, sometimes their personalities can really clash, i think the closeness depends on many factors, not just age!

my brother is 3 yrs younger than i and we are WORLDS apart. Completely different personalities so i think it depends on the child... My daughter is 8 and my son 1... the age difference is great in the sense that she is so independent and helps a lot with her little brother. Now i am expecting #3 and scared to death of having 2 under 2!!! We will see :)

My 2 girls are exactly 19 months apart and will be a grade apart in school and they get along great and do everything together. I am now pregnant with #3 and the youngest and the new bay girl will be 37 months apart. ( I think that is too far).

I think it can go either way. My SIL and her bro are very close and they are 7 years apart. They have always had a close relationship so I think it has more to do with their personalities and how they are raised. My older brother and I are only 23 months apart and hated each other like fire until we grew up. My children will be almost 6 years apart and I'm not worried about it. The oldest will start school right about the time this one comes along so it'll be a bit like having two only children, both getting the benefits of large amounts of parental attention. I do know that from a medical standpoint it is inadvisable to have babies closer than 2 years apart so that your body can replenish it's reserves and be ready to make another healthy baby. Plus, my biggest nightmare has always been to have two in diapers at the same time!! LOL!
