I became pregnant with my son while b___stfeeding my daughter. Tried tandem nursing for a couple weeks but it didn't work out. My daughter was already 2 1/2 and seemed so big!

I am currently b___stfeeding a 3 month year old and I have just found out that I am pregnant. However my son started sleeping for 7-8 hours from 11 weeks. They say it is the night feed that provides contraception. I guess in my case this is true.

Yes you can. My son was born Oct. 14, 2005 and now it's the end of February and I am not on birth control either. I was relying on LAM and everything I have read. But I just had a positive pregnancy test. And, to let you know, I have stricting b___stfed my son. He has never once been supplemented. So, yup, you can definately get pregnant while nursing.

i have a 6 month old baby and i'm b___st feeding how will i know if i'm pregnant

Well I answered this earlier this week and said yes you could get pregnant and I thought I was. Well now I'm not so sure. My son is 4 1/2 months, he feeds every 1-3 hours faithfully, sleeps in our bed with us and I had a very very light period for only 3 days. I mean just spotting. That was in January. Now we are in the beginning of March and I haven't had anything since. I took about 12 pregnancy tests in the past 3 weeks. All came out negative but 3 were positive (but very light). So yesterday I went to a clinic and they did a pee test and said it was negative. I'm confused! My teeth started bleeding slightly when I brush and my nipples felt very sore to the touch. So I was certain I was preggo. Now I'm just unsure again. My doctor and La Leche League say LAM does work for the 1st 6 months. So I'm thinking I'm just stressing way too much about it and I have 1 more month of reliability.

Hi, my baby is almost 11 months old and feeds 3-4 times a day (b/f). I started on the mini-pill about a month ago but it made me so depressed that I stopped. However, before I had been taking it for 2 weeks, we had s_x and I had also missed one of the pills. Now I am getting a strong metallic taste in my mouth a lot of the time. I have also experienced period-like cramps a few times but AF has not showed up. This has been going on for 1-2 months now. Does it sound like I am pregnant to anyone? Just wondering if I should go and get a blood test? Very worried as this would be baby no. 5!

Oh! And I haven't had a period since my bub was born! That is the confusing part.

I have a 4.5 mth old and we would like to try for another baby already but i've had no period yet and still b/f her about 5 or 6 times a day including 1 one night feed (she sleeps for 7hrs before needing a night feed). Can i get pregnant or not as we are trying VERY hard !!

olivia - March 20

probaby not.

olivia - March 20

sorry, baby needed me. But my answer remains probaby not. We have not used protection since dd born in August. I have had 2 periods and no pregnancy. I got pregnant with her on our first try so I doubt it is anything but b___stfeeding doing the work. It is natural spacing for b___stfed siblings to typically be 2 years apart. But hey, no harm in trying....

yes I asked my doctor about some ppl say that bf is a birth control and its not she told me because you are the most fertile right now

Susan W - July 26

Use NFP to try to pinpoint your ovulations while nursing . . . The idea that you are most fertile now was NOT true for me. I could not get pregnant again until I stopped nursing between 1-3 AM and had put some pounds back on. . . ..Nursing, if you exclusively nurse, no pacifier, no bottles, nurse on demand (no schedule), can work for 99% of women for the first 6 months. After that, it could be a c___p shoot. . . .We used NFP to monitor for signs of possible fertility after baby #1 and avoid those times (although I was not fertile) for a few months. Then we decided we wanted our kids really close together, started trying, and couldn't get pregnant. It took another 6 months before I even got my cycle back! And that took the aforementioned end of night nursing to get it. I conceived the first cycle on purpose and lost that baby and am pregnant again. . . .I would strongly recommend the book "Breastfeeding and Natural Child Spacing" for anyone considering using BF as their birth control. IMHO, if used in conjuction with NFP, BF can be very effective birth control for at least the first 6 months. NFP worked for us pre-baby for 10+ years. . . . .LOL, the only times we got pregnant were when we ignored the NFP rules and used a condom!

Well my daughter is 4 months old and she has been sleeping thru the night since 6 weeks. She is b___stfeed about 6 times a day. I do use a pacifier for her. I haven't gotten my period but all the sudden my nipples are very sore and i was feeling pretty icky. I had some v____al wetness thought it may have been a sign of ovulation but havent had a period. So I am thinking I should take a pregnancy test but i dont know if it would be too soon to tell. I really can't remember when i noticed the signs of ovulation. I would be thrilled to have another baby but a newborn and a 1 year old sounds pretty overwhelming. I am just hoping that i can continue to bf my daughter seems like it varies from women to women on how the pregnancy will effect supply.

I have a 4 month old son and I want to become pregnant again. I thought it would not be possible while b___stfeeding. I recently went back to work a few weeks ago and while I am at work, we suppliment with formula. I only work 3 days per week, can this time away increase my chance of getting pregnant? Or any tips on how to get pregnant while b___stfeeding!
