is there any chance they can try a cephalic version? where the manually turn the baby from the outside using ultrasound? also they cath is necessary to empty your bladder so that is doesnt get knicked in the process so you really want the cath in place trust me..a full bladder would be a mess for you and the doc good luck!

ECV - manual turn - is not an option unfortunately. Of course, the baby may turn on his own accord by 3 Nov and then the c-section would be cancelled. However, I don't think it's going to happen because the baby is too big and is quite comfortable sitting sideways. Cranberry juice, orange juice, anything else with acid is out since it makes my bladder swell up and pelvic pain. I've tried telling the ob-gyn NOT to cathertize me if possible because my bladder is already messed up and I don't want to make it worse or have bladder spasms. While expect my bladder to be aggravated from the c-section, I want to minimize any potential problems as much as possible. Thanks for mentioning Detrol or any meds to reduce bladder spasms. I'll ask my ob-gyn and see what she says. I'll also line up my hot baths again for peeing, etc. Believe me, I've been nervous about delivery since I got pregnant as I have IC and bladder problems for many, many years. I wish there was an easier way to avoid this. Thanks for the help and your thoughts. Keep fingers crossed.

To Carolyn-I feel for you so much! To be perfectly candid, you are between a rock and a hard place...I wish all the best for you. Can you ask your Urologist what little known possibilities there are for cases such as yours? Bladder problems suck the life out of a person, creeps into every aspect of daily living, I SO understand your dilemma. Maybe there is no way out with this baby, but perhaps if you have another you can attempt VBAC...no consolation today, I know.

Thanks. I agree with you. Bladder problems are the pits. I've had them virtually my whole life and it's been one of the reasons why I delayed getting pregnant. I'm now 37. I try to keep my expectations realistic and focus on the positive rather than dwelling on the negative, wallowing in self-pity and getting miserable which does not help the situation. I'll trying talking to my urologist and ob-gyn about the next baby, but I'm not getting my hopes up because I know the state and the hospital where I will deliver no longer allows vbac. But I'm only having another child after this one so maybe this is not hopeless. I heard you can ask for a bladder scanner while you deliver. I'm going to ask my ob-gyn and see what the story is. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed, and praying, that the pain will not be as bad or will only last for a few days or so, though fully realising that it may be significantly worse. Meanwhile, I'll give myself gold stars for only getting up once last night to pee (:-). Thanks again.

Carolyn- you should view the "forced c-sections" forum on here...I think one lady is circ_mventing the madate of no VBACS by not going to the hospital when scheduled. I say "right on!" to her, so I don't think next baby they can FORCE a c-section on you. Good luck on the bladder situation, please let us know what transpires as I am sure there are other IC suffererers out there who are watching your situation.

Yes I have had similar problems to you. Also after my c-section the foods that I used to love to eat before bothers me now. My stool has never been the same since my c-section why is that?

Could be adhesions/scar tissue kinking up your bladder or your bowel. Sometimes you keep a low-grade bladder infection for months after a c-section too, so you should ask doctor to take a look.

Hey Carolyn, how did your birth go? Are you and baby ok? Did your bladder hold up okay with the catheter and all the movement? Let me know. My IC has been really acting up lately I figured out it was the Luna bars I was eating....Vitamin C in them...aaaaghghhh!!! Anyhow, I think I have more scar tissue pulling on my bladder after the hysterectomy due to c-section scar tissue....this stuff just keeps adding insult to injury!!! Write back and let us know how you and baby are, ok?

Veronica, I don't know if you will see this, but I totally understand and have been going through severe bladder pain and frequency since my c-section over 4 years ago. If you do get this, have you figured out what is going on? If so, what was your diagnosis and treatment?

HI Everyone- Have you checked out the csectionrecoverykit? Also there is a site, AbdoMend.com, it has ma__sage information and a guide for care of the incision. Does everyone realize that the scar, even if it looks ok on the outside, has an internal life. If you want to help your bladder, intestines, reproductive organs, back pain- Ma__sage and touching the scar is a must!
The ebook is great, and its meant to help prevent pain and discomfort for the body post surgery- isn't life and motherhood challenging enough without extra pain?
Take care!! Ma__sage that scar!
