Left Sided Abdominal Swelling And Pain After C Section

I have been reading all of the emails on this forum and find that maybe I have an answer to the pain I have on my left side too. I had 2 c-sections the last one 22 months ago. I have had this pain in my lower left side that is usually worse during my period and ovulation but I still have a dull ache some other times of the month too. I have had 2 normal pelvic ultrasounds and now they want to do a ct scan of my abdomen and pelvis. The doctor thinks it may be my colon. I'm so sick of worrying, I feel like that is all I do these days. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. After reading all of your responses it only confirms my thinking that conventional medicine does not know enough about women's health.

Hello everyone! It has now been two weeks since I had my insicional endometrioma removed and can honestly say that going through the pain of having surgery was 150% worth it. Aside from the odd pang from the healing incision line (about 2" in length) I am pain free. This is the first time that I can say that in close to 1 year!!! Don't give up or take no for an answer. We are not crazy this is a real problem for women who have had c-sections. If we don't make ourselves heard it won't get better. Good luck to everyone and I hope you all get the help that I have found.

Hi Noel, I to have the same sore "pang" where my pain is on my "off" days. In fact that day is starting today - Day 15 of my cycle. I have been bent over in pain the last 15 days. Though, I still have a dull drone of pain but it is not as sharp. My doctor is pretty sure we are also dealing with Incisional Endometrioma and has decided to take it out. However, he said he could put me through more tests which would be expensive for some - and still come to the same conclusion that surgery is the only way to alleviate the pain. Or try hormones which are a temporary fix. Do you have a ma__s that you can feel on or near your incsion during your cycle??

Hi Nicole The left side of my incision is definitely more swollen then the right and very sensitive to touch. Yesterday when my Primary care doctor touch my left side near that area I jumped I couldn't believe how much pressure I felt. Of course now he thinks it my colon. Now I'm a nervous wreck that it could be my colon. I go in Monday for a CT scan of my pelvis and abdomen. Have you had one? Do you know if I can ask the tech to look for adhesions? Would they come up on the scan? Sorry for the questions but my mind is racing. I'm about 6 days away from my period and today I have had a lot of pain. I think maybe the Doctor pushing down on me yesterday has something to do with it.

I would like someone to help me. I had a c-section in Dec. My doctor left someone else in charge to sew me up. Well she did a terrible job. My scar is not straight at all it deeps down in my private. I am swollen on my left side above the scar, which hurts really bad. I have sharp pains that come and go. Below the scar on the right side is swollen in my private part. Plus she did not line me up straight. My belly b___ton is moved over to the left side now. My doctor agrees its terrible and I am schedule to have him redo the work. So I can at least look right. I am going to a plastic surgeon on Tuesday to see if he thinks my OBGYN doctor can correct this. What would y'all do? I look and feel terrible. I won't let my husband see me nude. We have only been together a couple of years. My doctor said my insurance should pay for this but if it doesn't for me not to worry about it. I asked well what about the hospital bills he said he can't control those. This is another thing I am worried about. It should not cost me a dime.

Hi everyone! I went to the doctor today for my follow up from my surgery 3 weeks ago. He said he took out the endometrioma and that it was slightly larger than a golf ball. I am now completely pain free and couldn't be happier. Whatever doctors say don't ever give up, keep looking for help because you will find it eventually. It took me seeing 6 doctors multiple times to find a doctor who would listen. Good luck to you all!!

I just wanted everyone to know my surgery is on Monday at 7:30am CST> Thank you all so much for the info. I don't think I would have gotton this far without this board of wealth of information. ROBIN, I am so glad you are pain free. YOu are my hope for the next few weeks while I recover. I hope the recovery wasn't to bad -- would be able to explain how things were the intial weeks following?? THANK YOU ALL!!

Hi Nicole. I am glad that you too have found some hope. The first 3 days after the surgery were a little discouraging, the pain was worse than after my sections, but from day 4 on things just kept getting better. I was back to work 6 days after surgery, although uncomfortable still, the pain was managable. My biggest problem was exhaustion. It took a lot out of me. But it was definatly worth having the surgery!!! Good luck and let us know how it went once you are feeling up to it. I will be thinking of you on Monday!!! Just remember when you are in pain that atleast this time you know that it is only temporary, that is what helped me get through the first 3 days. Hope the next time we hear from you, you are pain free like I am now!!

Hi Robin, Thanks for the reply. Something that worries me is that my period has been coming two days sooner each month. And that would leave me with a period two days post surgical. I hope I didn't botch this up. Second, I can't think of any pain more imaginable than my post c-section. I had such intense BURNING that nobody else I have spoke with said they ever had. So if it is that - I can deal with it again. I just want to get on with my life. Third, did you spend the night inthe hospital? The doctor didn't think I would be admitted overnight. But he said it could change. Fourth, Did they go into your Fascia and repair with mesh? Did your doctor feel certain that he got all of the bad cells out? Could he see them?? If you want you can email me at Brubeauty03@aol.com if that is easiest. I really appreciate you taking the time to talk with me. I am starting to get nervous - Also did you go under general anestheisa? That is the plan for me. Thanks Again !!!!!!! Nicole

Hello Everyone!!! Laying in bed here. We have wireless :) 100% confirmed Incisional Endometrioma. I was looking for the surgeon as soon as I woke up. No wonder curiosoty was killing me. Said he has never seen it before. He is a top Oncology/Gynecology Surgeon with Northwestern Hospitals. Mine was a little smaller than a golf ball -- But he did say it was a big glob and went all the way down to the fascia and he cut a portion of it out. But no need for mesh which was good. I am not to bad. Sore now becasue the delotion wore off. I am on Tylenol 3 with codene. I think I prefer vicodin. This so far is a walk in the park compared to my section. After my section I had the burning in my stomach that I would get with my periods. Makes me think I could feel those endometrial cells immediantly. Also, they cut a little more than half into my scar. They decided to do general anethesia which was a first for me. Also, I find that it has been hard to get my bladder going for some reason. Have to put my hand in hot water. Very weird. Thank you so much for all the info. This is the most painful medical condition and I gurantee there are tons of women suffering that don't know any better. I know I didn't for almost a year and took "scar tissue" as the excuse from my OB. I will let you go and write you later on how it is going. Don't get me wrong I am very sore here. Not plesant but feels so much better than the painful burning that occured most of the month. DON"T GIVE UP!!! Pain relief is out there!!!

To all you ladies - March 6

I had a hysterectomy due to c-section problems, mostly adenomyosis and adhesions. Now a few years post-hystero I am having severe IBS and bloating, since they took my ovaries I am not too worried about ovarian cancer, but, when I bloat I look 9 mths pregnant and my naval points to the right. I have twinges (like a hernia pain) on the right side but not in the incision, more just below and right of belly b___ton. Sometimes, even when not bloated my naval looks off center. I am thin so I don't think it is asymetrical fat deposits. FYI until the last year I had a concave stomach with a 6-pack and never had a right leaning naval. Still working out, but aside from aging, could this be something you all have had?

Hello everyone. I am so happy I found this forum. I having been trying to figure out what this marble size ball was on my c-section. I feel pain mainly during my period and after the first week. My doctors in Houston, Texas know nothing. Is there anyone that knows a good doctor in Houston, Texas that knows about incisional endometriosis? Please let me know. vanessa.bermudez@gmail.com

I've had 2 C-sections. After the first one I healed just fine. 2 weeks after my second C-section I was in so much pain! I talked to my doctor about it and she said it was normal. HA! 2 years later and I'm STILL hurting! My left side hurts sooooo bad! It feels like sharp stabbing pains and burning sensation. I also have some sort of egg size lump that sometimes sticks out right under my rib cage. I've been going to a doctor for the pain. He had me get some x-rays and an ultra sound. I haven't gotten the test back yet. I hope I find out what is causing so much pain!! If anyone has any idea as to what this is PLEASE let me know!!! Sweetmischief13@aol.com

I am happy I found this site... I have the C-section 2 years ago and 2 weeks ago I felt burning, tension and itching at the scar area and palpate the ball like lump, I was scared to death. I checked all websites about all possible reasons from hernia till cancer. Today I visied the surgeon and he thinks that it is st_tch inflammation. So, I scheduled for surgery. Do somebody have this surgery experience? is it tough? Maria

Hi, I had my one week follow-up appointment today. Everything looks good! My pathology came back and it was INCISIONAL ENDOMETRIOMA!!! Just as the surgeon had told me. But Pathology really sealed the deal. Also, it looks like they got it all out. Becasue there were no cells present on the exterior of where he cut. Supposly, it was a pretty big area that he took out. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the surgery to anyone who is suffering the pain. I had surgery Monday, I was feeling pretty great by weds night!! Also, for those out there that are questioning whether they have this - there are a few doc_ments on accredited medical websites - google- "Incisional Endometrioma" -- you will be able to compare your symptoms etc.. Also, one in particular shows most cases out of 10 were misdiagnosed before surgery. Good Luck.

Wow, I am sitting here wondering why my doctor didn't think of this first. I was just diagnosed with endometrial growth at my c-section incision site. My OB/GYN thought it was a hernia and sent me to a surgeon who then determined it was the endometrial growth in the incision. I would have thought of anyone my OB/GYN would have thought of this. I had my last c-section 5 1/2 years ago and have only been experiencing pain for the last few months not really realizing what it was or that it was coming monthly. Thanks girls for all the info. My surgery is scheduled for a few weeks out but hopefully recovery will be a few days like the surgeon says. Thanks!
