I am heading out of town tomorow for my CT scan. Since my last post, I have developed a bump on the middle of my scar. When there is any sort of pressure on it, the pain is so bad, that I almost pa__s out. My incision is now swelling and red. I am hoping the doctors will find something tomorow. The pain is getting unbearable. Wish me luck!

I just stumbled upon this website trying to make some sense of what I have been dealing with for the past 3 months. I noticed someone on here is named Kara as well so I added my last intial. I had my second C-section 3 months ago as an emergency and had the up and down incision. I ended up developing ITP where you lose your platlets so I ended up bleeding severely after surgery needing over 30 units of blood products. Well, I have been having severe abdominal pain since then I have been for a CT and nothing unsual was found. I am going in for a laporoscopy in 2 weeks the dr. thinks my uterus has adhered to abdominal wall up out of my pelvis where it was when I was carrying my son. My pain is mainly on my right side and down the middle. Has anyone ever had this??? thanks so much!!! Good Luck to everyone.

I had my CT scan yesterday, and by the looks of what everyone has been saying with them.. I am not so confident that they will find anything. I ended up going to emergency last night because the middle of my incision swelled to the size of a softball. It was red, and hot and I had a fever of 101. I have to go back tomorow to get it checked out. They've scheduled me for another ultrasound on monday, but again.. I am pretty skeptical. The doctor was shocked to see that I had an infection so long after my surgery (5 months) So.. who knows what will happen... Any suggestions?

I'm so glad I came across this website! I had my c-section 2 1/2 years ago and have had pain on my right side that is growing progressively worse. It is like a stabbing pain that so many of you are describing. I also have some lumps underneath that I a__sumed was scar tissue. My pain is bearable for the most part and comes and goes. I can't believe that so many of us are going through this like it is normal! Question - what are adhesions? Thanks so much.

i had my second c section 3 and a half years ago.I got an infection in my st_tches and had loads of different antibiotics and was like this for 8 weeks since then ive had awful pain in left and right side. The hospital discovered adhesions that was causing my bowl womb and ovaries to stick together. They started treating it wiyh an implant every month but it didnt help then i went in to hospital to have them removed where i suffered a blood clot on my stomach. The pain eased of about a 8 months but now i am due to go back as my monthly cycle is every two weeks and lasts for 2 weeks and the pain is horrendus and constent so ladies you're not alone

Wow, I'm NOT crazy! I'm five weeks post op with my second C section. A little over a week ago, I started getting pain where I thought I had to pee constantly. I went to the GP and they treated me for a UTI eventhough it didn't show in my urine. Well ever since then, I've been having pain. I had a sore spot on the right side of my belly b___ton, and now it's basically AT my belly b___ton and goes downward. It hurts worse when I move. I a__summed it was because of the C section and all the muscles getting back into order, but why would it start now and not back when I had her? I'm definitely going to ask my OBGYN about it when I go back for my 6 week next week. I didn't feel this with my first section!

Just a follow-up to my last post - I went to the ob/gyn who performed my c-section (2 1/2 years ago). He said he felt a ma__s on my right side (where the pain is) and referred me to a general surgeon. He said it felt like the lump was in the abdominal wall and didn't think a lap would detect anything. I'll give an update after I see the surgeon.

When I had my csection there was an initial tenderness more on the left side of incision which eventually went away until 1 year ago (2 years after csection). Now for the last year I have had pain on the left side of incison, it hurts to just touch the skin over the area. The pain prevents me from standing up in a normal manner, lifting things and also affects my sleeping. There also is a slight swelling above the incision. The pain always comes during the mentral cycle then may go away completely until the next cycle or sometimes linger on continuously to some degree. I told my gyn and they told me there is nothing I can do that it is probably scar tissue build up and to take some Motrin. I kind of got the impression that they were trying to avoid pain mangagement issues rather than find the cause of the problem. I'm am relieved to see that there are tests that can be done to see if I actually have something wrong. It especially concerns me because I want to have another child but can't help but think this issue may cause a problem.

p.s. My pain is probably due to nerve damage around the incision. I've been to specialists and have been told it will not go away and that I need pain specialist and control for the rest of my life.

I had laproscopic surgery yesterday. The doctor found that my uterus had adhered to my abdominal wall and that my right fallopion tube had stretched 3x than it was suppose too. I also had my tube ligated. I hope this fixed the problem and the pain after surgery is not bad I am just sore. recovery should be no more than a week. You all should discuss with your doctors about having an exploratory lap.good Luck to all.

Hi All! I have some good news, and it might give some of you some answers. I went out of town to get my CT scan, and they told me that the results would be back in 10 days. That evening that I arrived home, I ended up with an extremely high fever. My stomach had really started to swell. Almost the size of a softball. I went to emergency and the doctor treated me for an infection. He said that he had never seen such a thing so long after a c-section. He then told me to come back in 36 hours if it had not gotten any better. Well.. it didnt get any better.. It happend to get worse. My stomach swelled from hip to hip, and up to my belly b___ton. I was put on IV antibiotics every 8 hours and told to come back monday morning when the surgeon would be there. I came back, and the surgeon cut open my stomach along my scar line and drained 1/2 a cup of puss from my stomach.. He inserted a tube to let it drain, then took it out on the following thursday. He left the hole open in my stomach so that it could heal from the inside out, and so it drained for almost another week. I had blood tests that came back with no infection, and everything is starting to get better. The CT scan showed that I have something they call "Ascitis" which is fluid in the abdomin. I am now being treated by a ma__sage therapist for lymph note drainage, and the pain has subsided quite substantially. The surgeon had told me that this only happends to 1 in 1000 people.. and the reason for this was because some people have tissue's that are more prone to bacteria infection. Even if the place is completely sterile. He said it could of just been in the air, and thats how I got this infection. It took almost 6 months to rise... so hopefully if any of you are having this same problem... get an ultrasound done, and it should be able to show if their is fluid in your stomach. Good Luck to you all !!!!

I have had 2 c-sections and then another abdominal surgery on the same scar line for a twisted ovary from a hemmorhagic ovarian cyst three years ago. I could tell that my recovery from my third surgery was not the same as from the first two. Pain began to increase about a year ago. I too went through all sorts of ultrasounds, CT scans, GI tests, etc. to rule out multiple problems. I always felt and the tests all pointed toward adhesions and ilio-inguinal entrapment. I was put on extended release morphine and medication for breakthrough pain. I had two nerve blocks done which helped for only about a week period. I was sent to a physical therapist who specializes in womens health. She was wonderful and did myofascial release which did help a great deal. When I am driving for extended periods it seems to aggravate it and I had to take a long trip last week due to a sick family member and the pain has returned to an unbearable level. I will be going back to the PT next week. I know that this is something I will have to deal with for the rest of my life. I saw a surgeon who did not want to do surgery since she said it can make the adhesions worse. My quesiton is, for flare ups what is a good medication regimen? My doctor put me on Cymbalta also but it makes me so dopey I don't like to take it. The heavy duty narcotics do help, but I don't want to have to take those. Has anyone found relief with muscle relaxants?
