Delivery Too Fast To Donate

My delivery was very short (the doctor just made it in to catch the baby). I was told that because of this, they couldn't take the cord blood for donation. I had given blood when I arrived and the kit was left in the room afterwards. Has this happened to anyone else? What could cause this? It seems like if they just needed to drain the blood out of the cord after birth, it wouldn't be a problem. With everything else going on, I didn't follow up at the time.

The cord blood is from the umiblical cord and I believe they couldn't take it because it takes time to collect the blood and by then, it have been a bioharzard to do so.
