I have had skin problems for that past few years but pregnancy has made it worse. I have read about how Fish Oil supplements are really good for your skin they help neatralize oily an add moisture to dry. The bottle says to consult a physician if prego or nursing. Anyone have an idea if its ok? Great source of omega fatty acids.

I would stick to a prenatal vitamin while pregnant. You can ask your doctor but I think if your having skin problems it won't help that much. I have terrible skin problems now that I am pregnant and the only thing that has helped me is gold bond lotion with oatmeal and powder. For my face, I use a mild cleanser and I go without foundation which tends to bother my skin. I am now 21 weeks, the itching is not as bad, but I am still very blotchy on my face and have a pimple rash on my stomach. Only 4 months left!

My doc & midwife BOTH advise taking a fish oil/ O-3 supplement daily. They said not more than 400 mg (or whatever the measurements is that they use). They are essential for brain development. I could only find supplements that are 1000-1200 mg so instead I eat about 1/4 cup of walnuts daily. I just use them as a snack midmorning. They are also a great source of O-3 fatty acids.

I was already taking Omega-3 to help with joint pain/stiffness. My dr. said it was ok to continue taking, 1 capsule per day.

I am taking Expecta Lipil DHA and ARA supplement. It is made by enfamil. The problem with fish oil is the risk of mercury poisoning, thats why they dont want you to take it while pregnant. This one is made with something other than fish but is supposed to be the same thing. I bought it off Enfamil's website. You can get a 3mnth supply for the price of 2 that way. It is supposed to be great for baby's brain and eye development and I even read that it can help keep you from getting post-partum depression.

Fish Oil is a blood thinner. I think that may be a problem.

A recent unplanned vist to Labor and Delivery (@ 17 weeks ) lead us to see the on call Doctor who strongly suggested Fish Oil Capsules. She suggested Spectrum Norwegin Fish Oil capsules.2 in the am and 2 in the Pm. She said it was good for toning the muscles and help the baby if it was premature. From what I have read you need to avoid the ones made from the fish liver and stick with the ones made from the whole fish..... Hope this helps
