I was wondering if any of you pregnant ladies are vegetarian. Im about nine weeks and trying to maintain a healthy diet. Does anyone have any advice? What do you all think of vegetarians? Im just worried about my baby getting the right nutrition.

I was/am a vegetarian. I had my baby 3.5 months ago. I made sure to take a flax-based Omega 3 supplement (whole foods). Also, I ate plenty of soy and dairy. A vegetarian pregnancy can be a VERY healthy pregnancy:) Mine was. I used Grillers Crumbles (Morningstar), seasoned with taco seasoning, and made burritos almost every night. I added black beans to the mixture and ate an avocado every day. It was so delicous. Let me know if you try it and like it.

I am a vegetarian (though I do eat dairy and eggs). I think it is probably more healthy than if you were eating meat, considering all the awful chemicals and hormonmes thwy feed those animals (don't mean to be preachy). I am trying to eat a lot of rthe green leafy vegetables, and try to have a big dinner plate sized serving of kale every day (it's really good sauteed with olive oil and garlic). I am also trying to eat almost all organic produce, as well as making sure the dairy I eat (I love cheese!!) is organic and free of hormones. I have to admit, though, I am also REALLY attracted to starchy fattening food right now, and could live on macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes with a ton of b___ter!! But I do my best to curb that. Lots of fresh fruit, too. Good luck!!

Weird, Danielle, i have the same cravings (mac n cheese, and baked potatoes). Wonder what my body is lacking. I love all Morningstar brand products, esp buffalo wings. One question: are you going to give your child meat? Or make them only veggie? My so and I go back and forth on that. Just wondering about everyone's take on it.

My son will not eat meat under my roof:) If he tries it on his own accord someday, that is his choice. I will raise him to be a veg. I love the Morningstar Corn Doggies dipped in mustard!!

My husband and I are both vegetarian, and we will DEFINITELY raise our child that way. We were joking the other day that we could picture ourselves one day in the future with our teenaged kid, saying "If you MUST eat hamburgers, please at least do it under our roof so we can supervise you" :-) But I can't imagine feeding my child meat now that I know what is soes to your body, same as I can't picture taking up smoking. Plus, neither my husband or I would ever cook it. I have to try the Morningstar buffalo wings...never saw them in the store...sounds good!

i m a veggie, i m in 16th week, would like to have omega-3 supplement, do we need to ask Dr before we take it?

I don't see why you would need to consult about an Omega supplements. These are found in foods, naturally. We run a higher risk of not getting enough, due to the fact that we don't eat meat. It is mostly found in fish. I buy a flax based supplement, so I am not ingesting fish oil. I also add ground flax seed to muffins, breads, and cookies.
