Soy During Pregnancy

Is consuming small to moderate levels of soy products during pregnancy harmful to a male fetus? I've read conflicting information about this topic. What is your opinion?

Soy is an excellent food for a developing fetus. Nothing can happen to effect a baby of either s_x.

Val - June 27

Soy is excellent food for all of us and we should all eat more, pregnant or not.

I agree with both Shelly and Val. I have eaten lots of soy in both my pregnancies. My kids also eat alot of it. We are all REALLY healthy and rarely get sick or have to go to the doctors. My kids have never been to a doctor for illness.

How can soy effect pregnancy? Can it help you not have a miscarriage?

I've read that soy products produce a peusdo-estrogen hormone effect in your body. Although this is good for menopausal women, some say that in younger women and children it can adversely effect your reproductive system. Any one know more hard facts?

I have read that soy can affect the development of the s_x organs in the fetus. Don't know much more but I have come across this on other websites.

Soy is ok in moderation - August 4

It's ok to consume soy in moderate amounts (its a staple of many Asian diets and if it were that dangerous, you'd see ma__sive side effects in their populations) but there is sufficient evidence to suggest that soy should not be a staple protein replacement.
