Brown Discharge Before Period And Negative Result

Hi there. I'm 19 years old and very confused. Last week Aug 24, I had unprotected sex with my bf but he didn't cum inside and my ovulation ended 2 days before I had sex. A week and a day later, last Saturday Sept 1, I had a light blood discharge that laster for half a day only. Today Sept 2 is my due period date but it didn't come. I took a test also on the same day but gave me a negative result. And just tonight, I've been having swollen boobs for the past couple of hours and now it has subsided. Can anyone tell me if this is a sign or not and am I too early to take a test especially that a week has still passed since the day I had that unprotected sex?
