is there a baby bonus in the USA only wondering and how much the money you get when your child is born in australia for every child born the mother recieves 5.000 dollars it started in 2004 at 3.000 and goes up a thousand every two years and stops in july 2008 after the financial year

Hi Amber, From what i have checked out, we are only ent_tled to $4100 until July 08, when it is meant to go up to $5000, altho, if we get a change in government this weekend at the election, maybe they will change the policy and abolish it!...who knows :) Its helping me take the full 12 months maternity leave...altho id rather they change the policy to make everyone take installments, rather than lump sum, as its not just teenages who abuse it and go out and buy a car, instead of using it for the baby .

i agree that way it helps to strech the budget that way that way it doesnt get b__wn in one go . its sad that since the raise of the bonus alot of defencless babys and children getting miss treated /abandoned/which is wrong obviously it just makes me sick to think that there are women out there that are able to do that just for quick cash

Hell no the US doesn't have anything like that. We get a break on our taxes but thats about it.

that sucks should put up pet_tion to recieve the same because it helps out alot for all your babys needs espeacialy in the first year of your childs life .but since john howard brought this out alot of 13/15 year olds are having babys just for the money and kids who do that could make us lose that privilage

what are you talking about baby bonus? on your taxes?

kendra.marie - November 20

we get refunds on our taxes but no baby bonus

Hey kendra, I heard that they are doing away with something like getting extra money back in taxes with the kids or something... Do you know what that is about? I have no idea.

I'm not 100% sure because I don't have any kids, but I thought it was basically just that when you claim your child as a dependent on your taxes you just have less taken out of your paychecks and that's where the "extra" money comes from...isn't that right?

stefkay - November 20

LOL! Yeah, if the US offered something like that there would definitely be a huge baby boom!

Actually in the US you get an automatic $1000 a year for each child under the age of 18--regardless of tax bracket or anything else. The money comes with your tax return or if you owe taxes it will be subtracted from that. I heard that in 2008 it was going to go up to $2500--not sure if that is coming up in a few months, or if it will be in 2009 for the 2008 year. Anyways, check your tax returns or else just wait for next year after you have your lo's! It is something that President Bush began. GL to all of you!

in australia for every child born or still born the mother recieves $4100 and goes up to 5000 after july 2008 and yes there has been a ma__sive increase in babys which was the whole point in australia but it back fired when they saw teens having babys just for cash the govenment pays it through centre link straight into your account .as for tax mothers also recieve $600 per child per year at the end of the financial tax income thats for stay at home mothers. i was not sure if it was just australia

ShoppingForTwo - November 20

wow president bush finally did a good thing

Happymommy - November 20

Oh-and Jennifer--I think what you are asking about is that they (some of the Congress) recently tried to get rid of this, but it failed. I think that there would be too much outrage from parents! I am not much of a political guru, so I'm sure that if you looked it up you could find out more about it. I only know b/c I already have kids :0)

AMBER81 - November 20

i just relised that i think the baby bonus is only in australia (optional question to USA mums)how much do you mothers recieve from the goverment each fortnight or week .i recieve weekly payments of the goverment

ShoppingForTwo - November 20

Mothers in the US dont get anything monthly unless you are on walfare or some state program. Over here if we have kids we have to fend for ourselves so to speak lol

jennifer_33106 - November 20

Happymommy that is what I was wondering about! I was at a bundles for babies cla__s and a speaker came in and was saying that you get a 1000 tax deduction but if you dont owe taxes or they dont come to that, then they did away with the getting the 1000 or left over back. That was a huge a__s run on sentance. haha
