I am going thru the same thing right now. I had a miscarriage in November, got pregnant again in March. My HCG levels are very low but rising. My first test was almost 300, the second was 587, and I have one on Saturday. I spoke to a woman from one of the Medical websites, and she encouraged me. She said it not always the numbers, but if the numbers are rising. So all of you low level HCG people stay encourage. God Bless

I got good news yesterday! My hcg was up to 5680 from 1900 5.5 days ago. My doctor said it was fine because it was doubling about every 3-4 days. We also saw a heart beat on u/s. Doc says everything looks great. I go back in two weeks. I guess there is a wider range of normals than we generally think. Good luck to all and god bless.

To all of you who have contributed here--Thank you all so much. I have had a miscarriage and am in the same boat as Mike. The information that y'all have been posting is enough to bring me to tears that this one I am carrying might end up being perfect. I have been bleeding and cramping (mild) all week, and your messages give me such hope. We aren't out of the woods yet, but I feel better about the outcome. Thanks again.

Hello all, I'm an IVF patient we had a 5 day transfer (blastocyst). My hcg levels were 37 on day 10 after transfer, 54,(2 days later) and most recently 95 at 4 days. My physician said we still have a little hope because the numbers are rising but for me not to get to excited with hope. has anyone out there had these issues? Its to early to do an ultrasound.

At my first Dovtors appointment I was 4 1/2 weeks by ultrasound, but according to LMP I should have been much closer to 8 weeks. My HCG was 4500. THe doctor said we will test again in 3 days and see what happens, 3 days later my HCG had risen but only to 7700...That isn't even doubling over 3 days. My next appointment was for 4 days later, the doctor said we don't need to collect another HCG, that this pregnancy wasn't growing normally we would discuss options at that next appointment. Well I jumped on the internet and looked up all I could find, well pretty much you only find people saying that if your HCG doesn't double, there is no hope. I insisted on having more blood drawn before my appointment, so two days after the 7700 level my HCG was only 9500. I was crushed, my husband and I had a miscarriage 2 years ago that dragged on for months, we were preparing ourselves for the inevitable DNC. THe next day I had my Doctor appointment, she walked in the room to console me, she said I am so sorry. I replied want to see, do another ultrasound. She complied even while talking about how hard it is to lose a baby. THe second the machine was turned on she said wait, there's the heartbeat, this baby measures to be 6 weeks 1 day. (Which correlates to the 4 1/2 she said before) 19 days later I had another appointment, to see if you were still growing normally, you measured 9 weeks 1 day. Yesterday I had my 13 week appointment, no ultrasound, but we heard the little heart via the doppler thing. At my 9 week appointment she said my HCG levels are unexplainable, but we will not take any more levels on me....Good Thing!! Have Hope, Believe, Pray, God knew your baby before you even conceived!!!!

this is strange--on 5/7 hpt was + . On 5/9 blood hcg was only 43.7 on 5/10 started spotting--dark blood then turned red--small clots not like normal. Then on 5/11 hcg was 41.7 on 5/12 spotting stopped. on 5/14 hcg was 113! and on 5/16 was 235 and on 5/18 500! I go in for an ultra sound on Monday 5/23. Doctor is not quite sure what is going on--she initially thought ectopic--but does not think that is the case. She thinks perhaps I had multiple pg and one detached hence the bleeding.
Whatever the case--I feel great! and am praying that by monday my hcg is over 2000 and that my baby (s) have a heartbeat. I did IUI on fertility shots.

I am so thankful to have found this site! I am 6 weeks along and have been freaking out cuz I don't have ANY pregnancy symptoms. I have an 18 month old and had a miscarriage several years ago and was sicker than a dog both times. My hcg level was 1507 @ 5 weeks and only increased to 2404 in 36 hours. After reading some of the notes posted on this site I have a glimmer of hope. I go in tomorrow for another test (96 hours have pa__sed since the last) so I hope it's better. I am hoping to get an ultrasound on Friday too. Thank you for sharing your stories. It's scary not knowing one way or the other if you're going to lose your baby or not.

Well I can't believe what I'm reading. I have a story that seems to relate a little to everyone.I am currently 8 weeks preg.? I have had some spotting on and off. This past Saturday, after seeing a spoonful amount of red blood, I went to the ER. An earlier HCG test done at 4weeks was 11,000 then 15,000 2days later. Not doubling but Doc said "acceptable". The blood test done this past weekend in ER was 30,000. Just now doubling after the last done 3weeks ago. There was no heartbeat and 2 docs,1 midwife and a nurse gave me info on miscarrying and cried with me. I've been a crying mess for 2 days. I went back to doc on Mon. for follow-up and she said the "specialist" looked at the ultra-sounds and because the sac looks so round and healthy (comparable to 5weeks), they are not going to do anything yet. No fetal development yet but #'s are still rising. She said I look like a healthy 5 week gest. preg. They are going to do another ultra-sound on Friday to see if heartbeat has started. If not, I will be miscarrying. I am so confused. Is there hope?

Dear Lisa, Sounds like theres hope to me. Is it possible that the pregnancy is only 5 weeks old? Usually with miscarriages it is true the sac looks odd. My Doctor could see the heart tones at 6 weeks. I had an ultrasound exactly one week before that the doctor estimated either a miscarriage or 4 1/2 weeks. Then exactly 1 week later there were heart tones and and the measurements estimated 6 weeks 1 day. I will be praying for you, youi should pray also.
Happy in Him,
Steph

Steph, how nice to reach out and actually get a response. Yes I am positive of my dates. I know I concieved on or around April 3rd. We have not had intercourse since. I have continued to research since I've last written and there does seem to be some question of the possibilty of a tipped uteris? Have you heard of that? I've read that if a uteris is tipped then the U/S could read 2 weeks earlier and that by 2nd trimester things return to normal. I have been praying to God and I have accepted any outcome as His will. I will be flabbergasted if they find a heartbeat on Friday! If it were not for the "specialist" I would have been handed a pill yesterday to help me contract so my M/S would be quicker. This is all scaring me.

O.k. - so like so many of you on here I'm going through the worrying while I wait period of time. I have had irregular periods since I was 16yo - I am now 24 and my husband and I are pregnant with our first child. I went to my OB after some very light spotting and mild cramps. They did an ultrasound and drew labs (05/17)... they saw a gestational sac and gave me an estimated 5 week date. Well... the HCG from 05/17 was 5900 and it was only up to 8000 48 hours later 05/19. I go tomorrow morning for an u/s... just trying to stay positive and keep my faith in God. I have such a supportive husband who just says, "It's not in our control baby... just keep praying about it. We'll be able to handle it no matter what" Just looking for some input/advice. Anything will help... Trish

Well Lisa, I will be praying for you. If you are truly 8 weeks, they should definitly see more than a sac. It is possible to have a blighted ovum (empty sac). I would hold out hope that one night while you and hubby were sleeping...you magically concieved this child 5 weeks ago. And Trish...your situation sounds a lot like mine. I am 14 weeks along today and am having trouble typing this and eat my taco bell....I am praying for both of you to have long and healthy pregnancy's. Best Wishes, and may the cravings attack you soon!!!
I hope you updating on your situation.

I wanted to update everyone on my situation as maybe it will help someone else out there searching for answers. I first posted on April 1st when I was just 5 weeks pregnant and started bleeding with slow rising hcg levels. For two weeks my Doc thought I would likely miscarry. At 7 weeks I found myself in the ER with severe left-sided pain (still bleeding heavy). At this point an ultrasound was done and nothing was seen in the uterus; however, hcg levels still going up so it was ruled an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. I was treated with the drug methotrexate which basically interferes with cellular growth of the fetus. The first dose didn't work so I was given a second dose. Five days later my tube ruptured and I was back in the ER. I was bleeding internally and had to have emergency surgery to remove the left tube and my precious baby who held on for 9 weeks. I went through 4 antagonizing weeks of first not knowing and then being scared to death of losing a tube. Every worst case scenario happened in my case. I just wanted to share because I want to make sure those out there with slow-rising hcg levels (good indicator of ectopic) explore this scenario. I think because miscarriages are so common and ep's are not this diagnosis is an afterthought. Goodluck to you all and I hope your outcomes are better than mine.
