I had s_x exactly a week before my period. I don't always start on the day i'm supposed to. Sometimes it is a few days before or a few days after. I want to know if i could have gotten pregnant since i am so close to starting my period. I am really scared and i don't know what to do. This guy was my best friend and he leaves for Iraq in six weeks. I want to tell him before he leaves if i am or not.

I had s_x a day before my period was suppose to start and I've been waiting to get my period but my period is already 4 days late. Could I be pregnant? Or is it too early to know?

Pregnancy is possible if you get spermed in the days leading up to and including ovulation. Ovulation is somewhat unpredictable. For a 28 day cycle it is usually 14 days after the start of the last period, plus or minus 2 days. Many women learn how to tell they are ovulating from ovulation cramps, stretchy cervical mucus, and cervical position (soft, high, open, wet). Ovulation occurs later for women with more than 28 day cycles. women with irregular cycles, and sometimes on account of stress, sickness, or medication. Once ovulation has occurred the next period comes pretty reliably 14 days later. For the last ten days s_x is pretty safe. Use a condom anyway. If the only time you have s_x all cycle is in those last ten days, and a period comes as and when normal, you can count yourself in the clear.

I have a question. If I have my period on the 30th of every month, how possible is it that I got pregnant on the 22nd of the month. I am late but my test is negative

Hi all! I m so much confused about such a huge difference in my LMP due date and the due date that I expect according to my actual conception date. My cycle currently had been 31 or 32 days since a year. I suspect having concieved on 30th day of the cycle that is just one or two days before my next periods since suddenly all my symtoms of periods got vanished. My nipple pain faded and little discomfort in v____a faded as well. I knew i have become pregnant and it was true. My periods didnt arrive and I tested positive for pregnancy. Now the problem is.. according to LMP my due date is 7 july.. but according to me it should be 22 july..( calculated on conception calender).. What should I do.. Can anybody please suggest me a solution. There is a very faint chance that I have been pregnant on other days.. Is it possible.. how can I verify.. Please help! I do not want to deliver before due date by C section if I am correct.

Ok, conception *can* occur before your period, and you get your period like normal (it happened to me - the conception date was actually a week before my period, and my period was normal). In fact, it's a highly likely time for you to get pregnant as that's when your egg is making its trip through your fallopian tubes and down in to your uterus. Next is implantation, which is when the fertilized egg finally "nests" somewhere in your uterus - once it makes its nest *that* is when you start missing periods. There's usually only about two weeks during your cycle that you can not get pregnant, but like someone else pointed out here, it can happen any time, because that two week time frame can be at different points at different women's cycles.

Gloria, if you are testing negative when ten days late, the chance of pregnancy is not high. Maybe you have skipped a cycle. Do you have any early signs to talk about? If you did get pregnant 8 days before expected AF, the conventional explanation would be that your ovulation was delayed. Good luck!

Jainz, did your LMP start Oct 1? That would give a due date of July 7. Conception occurs 14 days after LMP, which is perhaps where the confusion is arising. Also your first trimester ultrasound gives a conception date accurate to within 3 days. If you are worried and have not had the ultrasound yet, now it the time. Good luck!

xvkx, your experience is surprising. The luteal phase is supposed to be pretty reliably 14 days plus or minus a couple, as opposed to the follicular phase which varies from woman to woman. Shorter luteal phases result in infertility. The egg is supposed to be non-viable within 24 hours of ovulation. What was your doctor's opinion on your story?

jainz - December 20

Grandpa, you are right, my LMP was actually september 30. I expected my next period around 1st or 2nd nov. I was having all those pre preriod symptoms like nipple pain and discomfort in v____a etc. Then instead on 31st oct, all my symptoms vanished away and I was almost sure that I concieved on 30th night. On 2nd nov I tested positive for pregnancy. My doctor told me that I have due date of 7th july, while if I conceived on 30th oct.. it must 22nd july around.. which is a big difference.. It was since last year that my cycle has been varying from around 31 to 35 days.. befor that i used to have 28, 29 days cycle only. Your reply on this would be appreciated.. thanks
