Coccygeal Pit Help My Baby Has One

Anyone have a baby with this? We were inspecting his butt crack after his bath (don't ask) and noticed an extra hole. We freaked and did some research, only to find that it is the above term. I took him to the doctor and he said there is some fluid in the hole which could mean that a sinus tract (from spinal cord) is draining. We are terribly scared for our boy. I guess that 4 out of 100 babies, maybe even more, are born with this extra hole. Anyone have a similar story or know anything about this? We are so nervous that our son will have neurological damage. Our doc is consulting with a pediatric neuroradiologist to see what we need to do next. The liquid could be sweat but they need to be sure.

Hello, I’m in the same boat as you. We noticed this a while ago and were told it was nothing to worry about. But today during my 4mo daughters checkup I asked for a second opinion. The doctor took some photos as she wanted to consult another doctor but said that it was probably nothing to worry about since there was no hair or lump. Easier said than done, I am so worried I can hardly think of anything else. I caught a glimpse of her computer and saw the words spina bifida and my heart just sunk. I’ve been researching everything and anything ever since and it’s making me sick with worry. Wishing you all the best, and any update would be so appreciated x
