I was wondering if any of you have a spitty baby, and if so what sleep position do you use? My six year old was very spitty (reflux), and i was scared to put her on her stomach, but I was afraid she would choke on her spit up in the middle of the night. I find myself, either sleeping in her room waiting to see if she spits up so I can run to her and wipe her off for one, and make sure she does not choke. I was reading somewhere that they are now recommending that reflux babies sleep on their stomachs?? any suggestions?

Shelly, Do you mean 6 month old baby. My oldest had a problem with reflux. He still do. I had to thick his drinks. I also had to put him on his side while sleeping. I know this can be scary. Hopefully your doctor can help you with this. My doctor was a great help. Good luck!!!!

Ask your doctor if the reflux is bad enough for you to put your baby on its tummy. It may seem worse to you than it really is. I also read that it is extremely unlikely that a baby will choke on its spitup because their heads are usually laying to the side so it just runs out of their mouths.

my first baby had a major spit up problem. I was so paranoid that I even bought a scale to make sure he was not losing weight due to so much spit up. I would stay up also and check up on him to make sure he had not spit up. I started putting cereal in his milk to thicken his milk. it did work and it took about a year for him to stop spitting up.

We have switched to infamil AR, its thicker and seems to stay down better. I also give her gripe water for gas.
