This isn't infant care related but I wanted to ask my question here because the people in here are mature and give good advice unlike the other forums. I've already asked my GYN this but I wanted opinions from women who really use birth control. I'm on nuva ring (and use condoms) and was wondering if you've used it (or other forms of birth control) for a year or two then decided you wanted children, does it take awhile to concieve? The packet says no but I've heard of women using birth control for a long time and having trouble concieving. I want to be safe about pregnancy but for the future...will this harm my chances of concieving? Thanks.

HI there I asked the same question to my doc and they a__sured me I would have no problems. I had just had a baby.I got on the depo and ended up having the side effect that they wont tell you about. Bleeding during the entire time your on depo. I was prescribed the patch then a few days later the bleeding stopped. Im sticking witht he patch but the problenm with the patch is it can give you cancer. My up most fear is that if I take birth control it will have some negative effect on my chances of having children in the future. Besides the fact that it is not natural and does this to your body to keep you from getting pregnant...

I got pregnant from skipping 2 pills...so yes, you can get pregnant right away..it depends on your body!

I just watched a show about the Nuva Ring because it's only just become available here in Canada like, last week. It's a smaller dosage that's applied directly where it's needed and the hormones don't have to travel through your liver. The doctor said it should be easier to get pregnant then if you were to stop taking the pill because of the lower dosage and method of application. It sounds like this would be the best form of BC to use for future pregnancies. I've heard horror stories from Depoprovera users. Good luck.

I had the depo shot and the bleeding afterwards...maybe that's how it works, makes you bleed too much to have s_x, ha ha...No one had mentioned that side effect to me, and I was bleeding so heavily that I couldn't leave the house, soaking an overnite maxi in less than half an hour. I went to the doctor because I thought something was wrong, and he said, "yes, that happens to some people with depo, it will clear up after you've been on it for nine months." as if I would have another shot after that
