I am a very new mom (Gabriel i s2 weeks old) & I am very confused about how long I can refrigerate br___t milk. So far it has been less then 24 hours but I am concerned about if I should be freezing the milk instead and if that is the case how long can it be frozen? My mom suggested that I freeze some like in case I want her to babysit but if that is a month from now is the milk still good?

Hi! Congratulations!!!! Breastmilk can be refridgerated for 3 or 4 days; it can be kept in a freezer that's opened occa__sionally for 3 months, or a deep freeze that's opened rarely for 6 months. Once it's frozen and thawed, it shouldn't be refrozen - instead, use it within 48 hours. Oh, and it can be left at room temp for 4 hours, I believe. HTH

Le Leche League says that milk can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 8 days, and can be left out at room temp for up to 10 hours. You can check out more storage information on their website at: http://www.lalecheleague.org/FAQ/milkstorage.html
Just take out any dashes if they appear. Hope this helps! (and congrats on the birth of your baby)

Is it 8 days and 10 hours? Oh well; I'll stick with my shorter time span, cause I'd rather err on the side of caution, y'know?
