Can Baby Have A Blanket In The Crib

My son is almost 6 months old and he likes to settle himself by putting a blanket over his face. He falls asleep with it there and I am so scared to leave it because I am afraid he will suffocate. Is he old enough now to know to move it from his face if he cannot breathe?

Maybe. Some babies go into such a deep sleep that they dont realize anything is on them. Maybe try a crochet blanket it has holes in it. If not then I would remove the blanket and just make him learn how to go to sleep without it.

Thank you so much for the great idea. I have 3 crocheted blankets that will be the perfect alternative.. He will be able to breathe thru them. I LOVE YOU!!!!

Hi, I just want you to know that I dont recommend it. It was just an idea. If you cant get him to stop maybe its an option, but I would for sure talk to the doc.

Hi, at the hospital, they recommended not to use a blanket or bumper pad. So, we never used a blanket in the crib and it can be cold here in the Winter time. Baby sleeps in nice warm cosy clothes during winter so that's how we worked it out. You can always do the same and keep it dark in the room, that helps as well.

I read in a book that you can have a blanket in the crib just tuck it under the mattress (the bottom of it) and only let the blanket go up to the belly b___ton! Been working great for me ,he kicks it off anyways...good luck
